Here’s another reason that I am a plaintiff’s employment lawyer:
Of course, this is merely an accusation — but it’s one that I’ve heard from clients before, though they usually report it being said with a little less blatantly. That’s what happens too often when wealthy men get unchecked power. They try to turn unwilling women into whores.
Here’s a report from the press conference of Sharon Bialek, who shares the services of attorney Gloria Allred with fictional Sue Sylvester of Glee, at a New York press conference. Bialek is a conservative Tea Party Republican who was formerly employed by the education arm of the extremely conservative, minimum-wage and workplace safey law-hating, National Restaurant Association.
Sharon Bialek described an encounter in which she said Cain reached under her skirt and also grabbed her head, pushed it toward his crotch, and said, “You want a job, don’t you?”
I defended Herman Cain a week ago, based on the information that was available at the time, which simply was not damning. And I do not conclude that this allegation is true. But I certainly do think that, if Ms. Bialek’s credibility holds up — like, she’s not Rick Perry’s state coordinator — this puts the Cain matter into an entirely different category. That category is no longer merely sexual harassment, but sexual extortion and sexual assault.
Many people are circling the wagons to defend Cain. As a Democrat, I almost hope that they succeed. There’s now so much smoke that it’s hard to continue to believe that there’s no fire. If so, his getting the nomination would be to tie a freight train around the GOP’s neck and send it down a mine shaft.
No wonder Newt Gingrich is palling around with him. Scandal has taken what toll it could upon him already; in that respect he’s, ironically, a safe choice. And now he wants to inherit Cain’s base.
I can’t imagine the mind that would consider Cain as a legitimate presidential candidate. He’s now “boning up” on foreign affairs, getting a cram session in. Double entendres aside, here’s a fellow who knows little to nothing about what the job required, and, like Palin, is using the press to maximize his brand. His speaking fees will go up, and that’s very likely his main concern.
As opposed to Obama he has demonstrated that he knows absolutely nothing about what the job requires even after holding it for 2.8 years.
Yeah right,
Here’s a list of Obama’s accomplishments/campaign-promises-kept from Politifact, sorry I can’t post it ‘cuz it’s 8 pages loooooooong.
http://www.politifact.com/truth-o-meter/promises/obameter/rulings/promise-kept/?page=1
Yeah, 1) Nobel Prize for getting elected, 2) Murdergate scandal killing Americans with sanctioned gun release, 3) burning money as fast as he can leading to prolonged depression, 4) significant expansion of government, 5) significant expansion of those on government dole creating built in Democrat voter base, 6) Arrogant and stubborn style solely convinced that he is right and everyone else is wrong (kinda like you anonster), 7) [I would keep going, but MY list of Obama “accomplishments” is 24 pages long]
Geoff,
Wow, thats a lot of anger and hostility (not seen since Bill Clinton was in the Whitehouse), so much so, that it’s clear you’re plainly irrational.
Gosh, just think how us liberals feel about Bush, he allowed the country to be attacked, started two unnecessary wars, trashed America’s reputation by torturing people, outed a CIA agent, squandered the surplus, ran up the national debt, lost 25% of our manufacturing base, created no private sector jobs, hugely expanded the government, encouraged rampant cronyism and incompetence, was a stupid and pompous asshole (kind of like you Geoff) and for his final act, brought the country to the brink of financial ruin.
Those are significant and WORTHY of intense anger, Obama may not be your guy, but he has done nothing to engender that kind of hostility.
It’s called perspective, you right-wingers have none.
Frankly, I find your total lack of rational thought and basic intelligence, frightening.
.
Anonster, I think you made a few typos in your response to Geoff:
“allowed the country to be attacked” – so inane it doesn’t even merit a response
“started two unnecessary wars” – which Obama has continued
“trashed America’s reputation by [bowing to world leaders and hugging Islamic fundamentalist leaders]”
“outed a CIA agent” – Bush personally did that?
“squandered the surplus, ran up the national debt, lost 25% of our manufacturing base, created no private sector jobs, hugely expanded the government, encouraged rampant cronyism and incompetence, was a stupid and pompous asshole [] and for his final act, brought the country to the brink of financial ruin” – you really meant Obama here, right? Or haven’t you been living in this country over the past 2+ years?
Pretty funny Anonster – “Gosh, just think how us liberals feel about Bush, he allowed the country to be attacked, started two unnecessary wars” [which were continued by Obama], trashed America’s reputation by torturing people [Obama allowed guns to go to the Mexican Drug Cartels to shoot and kill American Law Enforcement], outed a CIA agent [Obama delayed dealing with Iranian Nuclear Arms situation], squandered the surplus [Obama has spent at a rate 3 to 5 times that of Bush], ran up the national debt [Obama has been much worse], lost 25% of our manufacturing base [Obama has destroyed economy through spending and attacks on job creators], created no private sector jobs [very funny, let’s compare the Bush/Obama performance on this one – I am sure that you will use a “credible source” like Huffington and automatically discredit CNN or Fox], hugely expanded the government {not unfair as to Bushon the Military side, but Obama “wins” this category in every other measurable], encouraged rampant cronyism and incompetence [yeah, the Obama administration has been a beacon of light here 9not)], was a stupid and pompous asshole [Obama is probably the most arrogant leader we have ever had – he absolutely thinks he is right about everyhting wven though his acedmic experience is oviously not working and sees his failures as the fault of everyone who won’t listen to him] (kind of like you Geoff) and for his final act, brought the country to the brink of financial ruin [No, actually Mr. Obama gets this credit].
Evidently you view any give and take as “hateful” and “hostile” because you suffer from the same disease of myopia as our fearless leader. Funny that you would say that this is the most “andger and hostility seen since Clinton – 1) I assume you are talking about conservatives generally and not me specifically since I was not really a Clinton hater during his second administration, and 2) if you are talking about public comment generally, I think it would be hard to dispute that GW faced more outright hatred than alany President since Andrew Johnson after the Civil War..
Geoff, Geoff – hatred from liberals doesn’t count. You should know that by now.
Geoff/Newbie,
You guys can PRETEND all you want that the nation’s problems all began on 1/20/2009 but the FACTS just don’t back you up.
Fact, the country was attacked on 9/11/2001 and Bush had plenty of warning and did nothing (just imagine what you’d say if the attacks had happened on Obama’s watch).
Fact, he started two wars, Afghanistan necessity is debatable, but Iraq was a RADICAL departure from US foreign policy, the Bush Doctrine, a totally unnecessary and costly war. One thing about wars, easy to get into, hard to get out of, we’re leaving Iraq and hopefully Obama will get out of Afghanistan by 2013. On this issue, I am a realist, there is no way Obama could have ended both wars simultaneously (or even sooner), the Pentagon has too much power.
Fact, Bush did torture and it did trash our reputation.
Fact, Valerie Plame was a CIA agent and the leak came from the White House (if you don’t want to blame Bush for that, then you can’t blame Obama for a scheme that came out of the Arizona DEA and that was also a follow up to a Bush era program).
Fact, when Bush took office there was a surplus, Obama inherited MASSIVE DEBT, THERE WAS NO SURPLUS.
Fact, when Bush took office the National Debt was $5.73 trillion and when he left it was $10.7 trillion, but that’s NOT the end of Bush’s legacy, Bush also left Obama the Great Recession, the economy was hemorrhaging jobs, government revenues crashed even further causing spending on social safety net programs to grow, leading to even deeper deficits.
Fact, we did lose 25% of manufacturing under Bush and FACT, OBAMA HAS CUT TAXES ACROSS THE BOARD, THERE HAS BEEN NO “ATTACK ON JOB CREATORS”.
Fact, Obama has created more private sector jobs than Bush and Obama was saddled with Bush’s recession, the month he took office the economy shed 820,000 jobs. http://www.bls.gov/web/empsit/ceshighlights.pdf
Fact,Bush increased the size of government, from 2000 to 2008, Federal spending rose by $1.3 trillion, from $1.9 trillion a year to $3.2 trillion a year, from 2009 to 2011, under Obama, federal spending has risen by $600 billion, from $3.2 trillion a year to $3.8 trillion a year.
Fact, The ECONOMIC COLLAPSE HAPPENED IN 2008, Obama took office in 2009 and was left with the HUGE MESS that Bush created, if you DENY this FACT, well it just goes to show how DISHONEST YOU ARE.
as soon as you hear the name gloria allred aka MAN HATER . let the circus start
Yeah, I made the mistake of opening a door for her in LA once and she screamed at me for my “sexist attitude.” I think the only woman that Gloria Allred cares about is Gloria Allred.
Four women, FOUR WOMEN, have accused Cain of sexual harassment, that’s a pattern (unless of course you’re a right-winger, then it’s a high-tech lynching/women who can’t take a joke/liberal racism/men being men/old news/media double standard/not important/Gloria Allred/…).
True story!?!? That is too much! 😛
From CBS;
“A Chicago woman accused Herman Cain on Monday of trying to get sexual favors more than a decade ago in exchange for his help finding her a new job just after she had lost her post at an arm of the restaurant association he was then running.
The woman, Sharon Bialek, is the fourth woman who has accused Cain of sexually inappropriate behavior in the late 1990s and the first to go public with her charges.
… And Bialek said she did not want to make her case public, but only did so after hearing about the other women.
“Now I am coming forward to give a face, and a voice, to those women who cannot or for whatever reasons do not wish to come forward and on behalf of all women who are sexually harassed in the workplace but do not come out of fear of retaliation or of public humiliation,” said Bialek, who worked for CBS radio station WCKG from 2006-7.”
http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-503544_162-57319854-503544/sharon-bialek-accuses-cain-of-sexually-inappropriate-behavior/
Yes, true story. Don’t think much of her.
Getting Gloria Allred for your lawyer makes the story less believable for me. We usually see Allred dressed “all in red” with the weepy client wiping mascara off her cheek, playing victim for the cameras.
She’s very good at what she does for her clients, I just find it sleazy.
Now this doesn’t mean that this womens story about Cain is false, just her choice in attorneys weakens her story. Let the facts speak for themselves.
In order to help Obama, I will be contributing to Cain’s campaign.
I would love to see that debate, and hope that Cain wears that ridiculous black hat of his.
Does anybody find it weird that the GOP would find another loser candidate with Cain in or for their last name ?
Don’t they know that Cain doesn’t think that he’s his brother’s keeper ? They might want to read their own fairy tales.
I thought that the GOP was supposed to be the party of the religious.
Wow.. good point.
And most of the California Republicans despise their Abel – that is Abel Maldonado, the famed moderate whose brainchild our new open primaries are.
They might have a branding problem that is so basic and obvious that they just can’t see it.
hey anoster your far left poluted mind has slipped you again . 3 women have accused clinton , broadrick , paula jones , k willey thats a pattern too ULESS OF COURSE YOUR A FAR LEFT WINGER THEN ITS A HIGH TECH LYNCHING . WHAT A HYPOCRITE …
In case you hadn’t noticed, Clinton isn’t running for President.
You really think THAT was the point. Hypocrite.
Aren’t you conservatives the ones who keep saying that Obama needs to stop talking about what Bush did?
Hypocrites.
No, Mr. Clinton WAS the President when he demanded sex from an employee and then AS President he lied about it continually. That is JUST the act that he committed WHILE President. Not sure what “running for President” has to do with Clinton except for allowing you to avoid admitting you are wrong.
Yeah, what President Clinton did was wrong and dumb. Pretty much everybody will admit that.
Now can we talk about people who are running for President NOW!?!?
Clinton? Oooh, ouch that hurts, LOL.
Bringing up other wrongdoers WON’T somehow magically nullify Cain’s problems or bolster your crappy excuses for him.
Herman’s a horn dog.
I think that the point is that you get all frothy Anonster if the horny behavior is from a Republican but completely excuse or ignore it from a Democrat. Clinton WAS President while he committed sexual harassment and then lied about it.
Yeah, what President Clinton did was wrong and dumb. Pretty much everybody will admit that.
Now can we talk about people who are running for President NOW!?!?
Geoff,
Clinton is OLD NEWS, Cain is CURRENTLY running to be the Republican nominee for POTUS.
FYI; Clinton’s affair with Monica Lewinsky was CONSENSUAL.
thank you willis this is what happens to hypocrite libs like anoster THEY DONT GET IT . he is not running for pres haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
These allegations actually seem to be helping Herman in the polls, with the sort of folks who vote in GOP primaries. They so easily convince themselves that the guy they like is a victim of the liberal media, even though it’s Romney or Perry who got this ball rolling. Look at them bringing up Clinton now, as though they had to defend their sex-harassing guy from “hypocritical liberals,” not from the facts themselves. “Their guy can do it, why can’t ours??”
Great, stand by your man! It would be so fun to run against this wacky, uninformed, snake-oil salesman in the general election.
horn dog = slick willie , vern this guy is not going to win . in the end rommney is going to get it . and than it will be plesure beating the communinty organizer
So you’ve given up on the pizza man and now behind the waffle king, just one question; which “rommney” will get the nomination, liberal “rommney”, conservative “rommney” or middle of the road “rommney?
That’s an easy one…he’ll spend the primary season trying to “out-conservative” the other candidates, then when he gets the nomination he’ll shift to the center in an attempt to woo independents.
anon your mslsd stories are a riot . bush is gone the only one who brings him up is the pretender in chife pres .
Yeah, that’s exactly what I said, dope.
And Clinton is gone too. Yet you brought him up, didn’t you?
i brought him up to show what a hypocrite you are . and it went over your head / like a fact to a big lib willis caught it .and like a big lib you passed right over it . i guess libs arent as smart AS THEY THINK THEY ARE .
No you didn’t. You brought Clinton up in order to deflect from the discussion about Cain. Willis didn’t “catch” anything…he simply chose to ignore the fact that Clinton isn’t running for President and that YOU are using the same tactic you accuse others of using when they talk about Bush instead of Obama.
No you can go away and take your BS somewhere else.
The right wingers are missing the point. The sexual harassment matters will be debated, and Cain will undoubtedly turn out to be another great liar. But it’s still besides the point that the man is hopelessly out of his league–he’s as inept and uneducated as Palin, and just as opportunistic.
anon take you bs to the lib oc you can fit right in their with kooks . oh i guess your a mind reader now and knew what i was thinking . you libs are now mind readers wow . you have taken snobness to a new level .once again facts to libs are like cockroaches turn on the lights and see what happens .
Hey idiot, I don’t have to read your mind…all I have to do is read the order of your comments. Your first comment about Clinton was a direct response to the discussion about Cain. You can try and walk back from that all you want, but it doesn’t wash.
hey brainfart anon you rip on a guy but you failed to renember history , she stated 4 women acused cain of sexual harrasment and blamed the gop for trying to cover up yet 3 women acused slick willie with the samething and she had no awnser to its the sametihing . too much hanging around with the ocupy crowd .. well at least santa ana got it right . but thats another topic .
And yet you say you wrote your response to show ME what a hypocrite I am? Did you mean to say that about Anonster?
You really should get your story straight. I’m not Anonster, and she isn’t me. I didn’t write what she wrote, and she didn’t write what I wrote.
Get a clue.
My comments about the right’s excuses for Cain are all current, all heard in the last few days and have NOTHING to do with Bill Clinton.
clueless you stuck your nose in it by backing her up . that makes you part of the conversation .
still dont get the comparison anonster wow i guess libs arent as smart as they think they are .
DO NOT MISS THIS! Mike Tyson as Cain:
Ok, likely the best video ever posted on here.
Now I want to see Herman Cain’s version of “I Think I Can Beat Mike Tyson.”
Here’s an interesting story:
http://www.cbsatlanta.com/story/16002149/investigator-herman-cain-innocent-of-sexual-advances
I’m curious on what you all think. I also wonder if Cain “passes” a lie-detector test, will that change any attitudes?
Well, like we Dems have said, it’s your fellow Republicans’ attitudes about Cain that you need to worry about – IF you’re a Cain supporter.
Pretty much all the Dems I know would LIKE him to be the nominee.
Cain will eventually explain that what he meant by “pass a lie detector test” was that someone else will be taking a lie detector test and he will walk past them.
Oooh, magic lie detecting software, boy howdy, I’m convinced.
“Private investigator TJ Ward said presidential hopeful Herman Cain was not lying at a news conference on Tuesday in Phoenix.
Cain denied making any sexual actions towards Sharon Bialek and vowed to take a polygraph test if necessary to prove his innocence.
Cain has not taken a polygraph but Ward said he does have software that does something better.
Ward said the $15,000 software can detect lies in people’s voices.”
He’s technically right. As we all know, rape is not sex, so they weren’t “sexual actions.”
“I can honestly say that if I hadn’t been on the radio, I wouldn’t have been as familiar with the issues as I am now,” Cain has written. “I believe that having that program was God’s way of forcing me to understand the critical issues confronting our nation.” In short, Cain’s briefings on politics came from heated right-wing callers on talk radio. “Epistemic closure” is probably too mild a term for such conditions.

Yet another Republican politician who has God’s special interest. The narcissism of these characters is stunning–and I thought all along it was Perry to whom God spoke –or was it Bachmann? I’ve lost track. It sure is fun living in the Middle Ages, though.
W. was also a politician who got his advice from God – a “higher father” than GHWB he called him. That’s up for debate of course, depending on whether you think the disastrous illegal invasion and occupation of Iraq, the gargantuan expansion of the security/surveillance state and the official embrace of torture, the shredding of the constitution, and the utterly clusterfuckish Bush tax cuts were God’s idea of a good thing.
If there is a god who actually talks to Republicans and advises them, he/she/it either has a fantastic sense of humor or is a mediocre diety. I’m going with the latter.
the ocupy crowd at their wackiest moment , vern ,anoster , rap ,and their leader diamond… disastrous illegal invasion , i guess i missed the part when congress gives you the ok to go its now illegal .the gargantuan expansion that killed all the al qaeda terrorist . the shreding of the constitution see nobama mandatory health careblunder and thev total clusterfuckish nobama addm .
Hey Juan,
Are you drinking with Quinn again, or is the full moon making you write this crazy nonsense?
no went to a ocupy rally took a deep breath i think cheech n chong where there with tim leary
Now you’re seeing dead people?
You really need to lay off the sauce.
no i was pretending i was one of the ocupy crowd , i was destroying property , attacking folks , going to the bathroom outdoors, turing over cars , and then i woke up . btw nice signs on the photo of the new santa ana blog f the fed rerserve .. yes these are the type of people we should be listining too.
In that case, you were pretending to be part of the pretend Occupy crowd, the one that lives inside your head and gives you the violent confrontation that you seem to crave. Sorry we can’t live up to your hallucinations.
Actually, it’s the one that has been extensively documented of Occupy movements all over the country by conservative bloggers while the MSM largely ignores the endemic characteristics of the Occupy movement. You can continue to point to your handfull of follks at Occupy Irvine and their to-date positive actions, but you still identify with a movement that it far from the mainstream American.
Radical conservatives rarely give details, and the details they give are rarely true. OK, you’ve taken us to step 1; now give details so that we can go to step 2.
I’ve already wasted too much time for you to keep ignoring it. On another blog, I previously posted a link with over 100 illegal and other disgusting acts by Occupiers (that list has grown to nearly 200). I also posted videos of Occupiers responsible for two elderly women being knocked to the ground or down stairs, and for preventing a woman in a wheelchair from leaving the building she was in. To date, you have not refuted a single one of those reports, because you cannot. You promised some link to prove that the police were pretending to be Occupiers in Oakland to instigate the violence that has occurred there, yet I still see no links. So try to actually get the facts straight before attempting to broad brush me as a “radical conservative” who rarely gives details. More often than not I produce facts to support my points. You have failed to do that here – some would call that being a liberal, but I’ll resist the urge to paint so broadly and just call you personally a hypocrite.
i guess when the news shows all the vilance and turmoil on tv its a hallucinations .. dont you just loves libs . they see what they want to see and hear what they want to hear .
Yes, some incidents, if true, are indicative of an entire movement. Sure. But hey, your masters have you bleating away just the way they want you to. Remember, one day you may be allowed to wash a Bentley for a few dollars.
