I take a break from my regularly scheduled exposé of fraud in Placer County / CRA politics to bring you an important update on Fraud in Orange County.
Chuck DeVore.
Recently Chuck DeVore had his surrogates initiate an attack against Todd Spitzer. Spitzer is a former Assemblyman as is DeVore. In a large county like Orange, being a county supervisor is almost a step up from the Assembly – especially for a Republican. First off, you’re not in the permanent minority and second, there are no term-limits.
The nexus of the attack was regarding Union money that Todd Spitzer has taken for his campaign.
Similar to some of the inane attacks going on up here in Placer – it appears that Todd Spitzer is the victim of “Projection”. Projection is the psychological term for someone that attempts to assign their own bad behavior to others.

It seems DeVore got caught tossing bricks in a glass house. Whoops.
Start off with the fact that Chuck DeVore got sued. Whoops. Sounds like the boys of summer don’t include Mr. DeVore.
A closer look in to the meelee shows “Fiscal Conservative” Chuck DeVore up to his $#(^* in debt. I guess it is a good thing that DeVore decided to attack me publicly rather than hire me – I’d likely be on his creditor’s list. Note that DeVore was able to skate on over $160,000 in debt in the settlement plan… his vendors probably didn’t get much at all.
Then, there is this little jewel from a local union leader in Orange County:

I have been the PAC Director of my union, Orange County Professional Firefighters Association Local 3631, since January, 2001.
In that time I have interviewed literally hundreds of candidates seeking our endorsement.
I am dismayed by Chuck Devore’s challenge to Todd Spitzer given that Mr. Devore has sought the endorsement of my union on two separate occasions.
The first time in 2002 when he was a candidate for Irvine City Council and then in 2004 as a candidate for the State Assembly during the Primary Election against his GOP opponent Cristi Cristich.

Playing follow-the-money is getting old, let me tell you.
As a side note to my current exposé: Chuck DeVore endorsed Karen England for CRA President along with the fraud and the CRA slate Karen brought with her. I guess that, the campaign debt and the union money circle is a great three-piece set.
What is your evidence that Chuck received $6,400 of union money?
The link you reference does not show anything like that – only contributions to Todd Spitzer.
Junior – please have a second look. Friends of Todd Spitzer is listed as the contributor, meaning that this is a screenshot of Chuck DeVore’s report showing he took $6400 of that evil union money from Spitzer. Since he was the recipient, it was ok.
Somewhere Chip Hanlon is crying in his beer. I don’t think DeVore paid him either.
Sarge, there are term limits for county supervisors in OC but supes can come back after sitting out – Spitzer used to be a supervisor until those term limits kicked in and he wangled a job swap with Campbell. Spitzer has also backed every pro-union and anti-police accountability concept to roll his way including the disastrous 3 @ 50.
In his Spitzer’s favor is his antipathy for some of biggest repuglicans in OC – but many of the ‘pugs back him, true to form, because they’re afraid of his dough.
Tony- I choose to stay a Republican and fight it out within the party. I respect your decision not to.

Tony is an alternate to the OCGOP Central Committee…he’s fighting for party principle from within. And more effectively than you Aaron, we all know you’re for sale. It’s been well documented. Even though it was exposed on RedCounty its still true. Former Poizner staff freely admit you were paid. You’re a fraud and everyone knows it.
I’m not really fighting for anything except maybe ending the plantation mentality of the GOPs county leaders/lobbyists.

And in Aaron’s defense, we all know he’s a paid political operative. Or we all should know, he needs to remind people now and then. Should this disqualify him from blogging, or make him dishonest? I don’t think so, as long as he notes who his employers are.
If I remember correctly his antipathy to Chucky dates back to when he worked for Carly in the Senate Primary against him and Campbell.
And Tony says “Repugs” in reference to Republicans he thinks are not good Republicans for one reason or another.

I was never paid by Carly.
I was paid indirectly by Poizner – a fact disclosed to and misused by the Red County People.
I am not currently getting paid by any political interest – if that changes, I’ll let you all know.
OCGOP – it’s easy to level insults anonymously, isn’t it?
I told the Red County People I was being paid – six weeks before they tossed me. They decided to take that information and use it to benefit Whitman who paid them $120K. Case closed.
Now Cunningham has been exposed by Bushala and Hanlon is getting sued and outed by the SEC – we call that Karma.
Spitzer’s hard to figure out. He comes across as a great enthusiastic, inspired and inspiring reformer. This Supe seat was supposed to last two years until he moved on to dethrone our corrupt DA Tony Rackauckas and his top allies the Schroeders. I was looking forward to that. And then with no explanation, out of the blue, he told Mickadeit he had changed his mind about running for DA in ’014, and was just gonna stay a Supervisor. That’s a lot less exciting, especially considering his instances of bad judgment last time he was Supe.

Tony is right about term limits in Orange County. It was voted in by the voters sometime after the infamous county bankruptcy – it was I bellieve the first time our voters have implemented a charter-county-like law. The limit is two full terms I believe (two 4 year terms). Most Supervisors have been given two terms by the voters since, wtih the exception of Cynthia Coad who was defeated by Chris Norby and the south-county anti El Toro Airport machine. So, we have term limits and a great park instead of an international airport.
Incumbents in every office usually get re-elected by lazy-ass voters who recognize the name, and who are dazzled by the advertisements sprung for by special interests who want continuing favors from the incumbents.
So, it’s a tough Solomonic decision with plenty of weight on the other side, but we’re best off with term limits for now.

I have been defeated by Pulido in 2004, 2006, 2008, for Mayoral office which has no term limits.
In spite, I am against term limits because it makes election meaningless.
If “lazy-ass voters who recognize the name” are still willing to vote that name in, it means that such name is relatively untarnished.
That is how democracy works!

Take Judges, they do not even appear on the ballot for reelection because the unwritten law prohibit any attorney to challenge sitting judge and if he/she does all judges in the court will destroy such attorney. He/she will never win any case.
Only RECALL PARTY can fix this.
If you can instantly generate signatures to throw the rascals out you will get true representative government where politicians will do only what the constituency voted them in for and not idiots who create laws in their stupid heads an lie to you during the election.

So all you have is an admittedly unverified report that Chuck sought the local firefighters’ union 7 and 9 years ago and a purported screenshot of Chuck DeVore’s Assembly Committee Filing showing that 7 years ago he accepted donations from the “Friends of Todd Spitzer” group and extrapolate that into a Seven Degrees of Kevin Bacon moment to claim that that means that Chuck took union money – even though you don’t present any evidence of where the Friends’ money came from? Hard hitting.
As for the debt settlement plan you try to smear Chuck with, you neglected to mention that it was for a lawsuit filed against the campaign. That suit appears to be Don Henley’s, a notorious liberal activist (and big contributor to Chuck’s Democrat Senate opponent, Barbara Boxer) who filed suit challenging Chuck’s parody of Henley’s “Boys of Summer.” So contrary to your aspersions, it appears that Chuck paid his consultants but didn’t pay his lawyers (some would say that’s a good thing).
One final comment – before you throw stones, check out the status of your own glass house please.

Aaron. While I would prefer that everyone use their true name when adding comments we have a long standing policy that permits anonymous inputs.
Your challenge, should you differ with their statements, is to refute them with facts. At times these anonymous individuals may agree with you. simly make your case.
And while I have met with Newbie, I have no idea who Anon or Anonymous are. They each add to the debate.
Vern – the issue here is that DeVore in his usual self-righteous arrogance is assailing Spitzer for taking Union money.
The significance of the link to the finance report (deliberatrly ignored by the commenter, of course) is that Union money was OK when DeVore availed himself of $6400 from Spitzer in 2004. How can Chuck know none of those dollars he got from Spitzer weren’t some of those union dollars?
As to the debt settlement plan – does DeVore really want to hear from the vendors he stiffed? I know some of them! Maybe Spitzer should get those vendors to swear out statements under penalty of perjury so that team DeVore finally backs off their indefensible position on the campaign debt?
Bringing the copyright infringement lawsuit in and trying to blur the line is absurd… Yes, Henley is left-winger and his motives for suing are obvious.
Aaron. A few years ago Todd told me that he had one million dollars in his coffers. If that is accurate you are looking for a needle in the haystack trying to pin down the source of $6400.
If you truly want to go looking for laundered money try tracking IE’s by third parties as some of us did in Mission Viejo.
While I personally know both of these candidates, I will not lose any sleep on this issue.
Larry – I missed one other point. The blog comment I re-posted in my critique of DeVore is verified, that individual is a Union guy in the OC. He basically wrote that he was disappointed in the attack as DeVore has sought a lot of the same endorsements he is currently assailing.
I know Bedolla. I can double-check with him if we want.
SGT Pork is at it again. Making up stuff and playing word games to sell his agenda. I would recommend he work on getting elected to CRA since he seems to lose out on 6 open spots with only 7 people running, not a VP still??? Not only do I and many others involved think lowly of him, but so do his fellow members of CRA, an organization he claims to represent.
Get a life Sgt Pork and get over your agenda against Chuck. He is a great American, Conservative and the best candidate running for the OC Supervisor seat.
