Villa Park: City Councilwoman Deborah Pauly has shocked OC politicos by publicly announcing via her twitter account that she has taken up the very Muslim faith she had only rallied against not so long ago in Yorba Linda! “WhYnotDebPauly” tweeted “Y not Islam?” @repedrollsroyce as Congressman Royce was aghast after reading her initial conversion tweet. Included in an official statement to be released later today obtained early by the Orange Juice Blog, Pauly took the occasion to apologize for her now infamous statements made in a speech outside an ICNA fundraiser saying that they were terribly misguided and represented a fundamental ignorance she once held about her new found faith. When contacted about the news, a spokesperson at the Southern California Los Angeles of Anaheim office of CAIR was at a loss for words. The OC GOP, on the other hand, did not miss a step and has swiftly called for Pauly to renounce her party affiliation! Pauly tweeted in response, “I don’t even care if you think I’m crazy anymore!”
In related news, Pauly is also said to be preparing a resolution calling for an official pronunciation of her city to be (V-ya) Park as in Pancho Villa. She plans to announce this political move at the next morning meeting of Los Amigos de Orange County after she returns from a trip to Canada to examine the efficacy of socialized medicine for possible implementation of a municipal model in her city.
