Congresswoman Loretta Sanchez got caught on video at yesterday’s Clinton Rally ignoring a Santa Ana resident, Naui Huitzilopochtli, when he asked her why deportations have gone up under President Barack Obama – and what is she going to do about that?
Naui asks her the same question, repeatedly, and finally he implores her not to “do a Sarah Palin on me,” but she does so anyway, as she literally turns tail and runs away.
Is Naui correct about the increase in deportations under Obama? Yes he is.
Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano said the U.S. deported a record 392,862 illegal immigrants and arrested more of their employers this past year than ever before, according to the Wall St. Journal. Only half of those deported had criminal records.
For those of you wondering what would change if Van Tran beat Sanchez, this is clear evidence that the answer is…not all that much, at least with regard to immigration reform. Sanchez clearly doesn’t care about her own people.
Of the three candidates for the 47th Congressional District, only one of them, independent Ceci Iglesias, has made immigration reform and immigrant rights a priority.
Several years ago, I was at a demonstration that Naui Huitzilopochtli and others organized protesting Congresswoman Loretta Sanchez’s role in getting the funding needed to keep immigration agents stationed at the Anaheim City jail.
It was a big controversy at that time (and still is) because many undocumented workers were being arrested and deported for traffic offenses and minor crimes.
As I recall it, Loretta was so flustered over the whole ordeal that she basically accused Naui and the other persons protesting her as being Republican Party operatives! Too bad he didn’t have a video camera to record her statement at that time.
It was absolutely hilarious.
Ah, you gotta love Naui asking the REAL questions!
Ok, Art, what does Ceci’s Immigration Reform platform look like?
gabriel,
She supports the Dream Act and a path to citizenship for those who are undocumented.
We didn’t get into this at length when she visited our radio show but it sounded like she would support temporary visas. It was not clear if she supports another Amnesty, as I do.
She at least will talk about this issue. As you saw in the video, Sanchez ran away when Naui asked her a very simple question.
Path to citizenship is very vague. It’s a buzz word like “Comprehensive Immigration Reform.” Temporary visas? As in guest-worker? She’s not a lot different than Sanchez there.
I’ve heard the Congresswoman speak on immigration before in a television interview. She does speak on it. I just never like what I hear.
I need more red meat from Ceci in terms of convincing me that her version would be any less enforcement/penalty laden than anything that would get meat grounded outta Congress in the coming years by the Demopublicans.
gabriel,
Here is a link to her website’s issues page: http://www.ceciforcongress2010.com/ISSUES.html
Still too vague…I can still see Sanchez saying something similar.
gabriel,
Did you not see the video on this post? That is the point. She refused to talk about it and ran away.
Ceci doesn’t pull that crap. If you have a question, ask her. I have already pointed you to her website. She is on Facebook too.
I checked out both the video of Sanchez and the link to the paragraph Ceci put out on immigration. Campaign signs in my hood emphasize that, but until I see/hear concrete principals from her on immigration, I don’t have enough to make a differentiation. I doubt there is little difference between the Demopublicans and her approach.
Maybe I/we will learn more in the next couple of weeks. (Again, this would be have been a nice reason for her to be in the KOCE debates…)
Put the criminals in jail and the non-criminals get deported according to the law of the land.
If you don’t agree with that, then take all of your own money and property and spend it on lawyers to help the non-criminals to get right with the law.
Cook you must be a an Obama supporter on deportations right ?
.
Don’t know enough to about Obama deportations to have a opinion.
I think the dream act is OK cause it helps the innocent children who grew up in the USA a way to make them right with the laws.
The adults, they made a choice.
Cook you must be a an Obama supporter on deportations right ?
They are obviously not depoting fast enough in Anaheim! It the second worst city in orange county for bad schools, crime and overall cultural and social decay!
This is not Mexico our officals should not be corrupt and race advocates! Illegal aliens should be deported asap to avoid the drain to the tax payer. American representatives should not be afraid to voice the American peoples want to deport especially the poor and uneducated from south of the border who have by far been a con to this country!
What do you want to do? Tell your compadrez to come to the US legally homie. Ask you fellow Country men what is their own duty to their respective nation. Stay in Mexico and reform the situation and quit stressing the US taxpayers for cost of illegal immigration. Love this Country? Respect our laws.
Someone tell me why is Loretta always runing? where is the 1k?
