A Chinese Republican named Barry Wong has sunk to a new low in the debate over immigration in his state, in his campaign for the Arizona utilities commission. He is threatening to cut off power and gas to illegal immigrants if he’s elected, according to Fox News.
Though it would cost money for power companies to check immigration status, he said it would ultimately save money because power companies would not have to build new plants to serve the illegal immigrant community, presumably passing on that savings to consumers. His plan, if elected to the five-person commission, would be to require utilities to check immigration status.
Wong, who was born in the United States, is the son of Chinese immigrants. He previously served in the Arizona House of Representatives.

How did Wong’s family end up in Arizona? According to his website, they came here when China fell to the Communists. That’s right. They were immigrants. And like the Vietnamese, they failed to hang on to their country. Mexico, by comparison, has been independent for 200 years.
They settled in Arizona and Barry was born here. He got a free public education, as he was, in terms his own party uses, an “anchor baby.” Barry attended Barcelona Elementary School, Glendale and Alhambra High School in Phoenix.
His parents ran a grocery store in South Phoenix, probably selling goods to the same people that Barry is now hating on.
Chinese workers first arrived in Arizona back in 1865, when they were hired, for $28 per month, to build the Transcontinental Railroad. “Originally thought to be too small to complete such a momentous task, Charles Crocker of Central Pacific pointed out, “the Chinese made the Great Wall, didn’t they?” (Click here to read more about this).
Many Chinese workers perished during that project, forshadowing the fate of underpaid Mexican workers in this country, who today lead the nation in fatal accidents in the workplace.
That Wong would be a Mexican-hater is quite ironic. If he knew anything about the history of Chinese workers in this country I doubt he would hold such views.

or “two wongs don’t make a white”? bottom line is that illegals shouldn’t be here using our resources in the first place. I truly understand his motivations but I don’t see how he can do this. Much better to just make it impossible to work or drive and let them leave on their own accord, basically a reverse course of how they came here. We didn’t round em up and bring em in and we don’t have to round em up and take them out. Just make life miserable and impossible.
Mexico is not really “independant” in the strictest form of the word. Where is the large free-market system? The rich control pretty much all aspects of the market system. With the huge natural resources that Mexico has, they could put millions to work. They don’t want to, they want to ruin this country by sending their uneducated/unskilled illegals here. Besides, Mexico is not ‘free’, because the drug cartels are now running most of the country.
