SAUSD Trustee Audrey Noji always finds a way to win in November…
Two of the Santa Ana Unified School District’s (SAUSD) Trustees are up for reelection in November – Audrey Noji and John Palacio. Both have been in office for many, many years.
Noji recently spoke at my 13 year old’s graduation from middle school. She spoke in three languages – English, Vietnamese and Spanish. Palacio spoke too, but only in English.
The SAUSD has been reeling for years. Most of our high schools and many of our other schools are on the State of California’s low performing list.
So who will be challenging Noji and Palacio?

Lupe Moreno should run. She is a strong woman with strong convictions and it would help give attention to her causes. We need more moms like Lupe on the school board in Santa Ana.

Lupe wants to deport many of the people in our city, including children. I think that it would be difficult for her to serve as a SAUSD trustee with those values.
Lupe and Tim Whitacre helped us rid the town of Nativo Lopez. If what you say is true Art (“Lupe wants to deport many of the people in our city, including children”) then we will have more classroom space, better test scores and less gang violence for our ninos who are here legally. Don’t you agree? Lupe has my vote.
Art…Did you do a post about the O.C. Register ranking of O.C. High Schools? Out of 64 high schools S.A. had Santa Ana, Valley, Saddleback and Century pulling in slots 61-64!!! How long can S.A. use the No Habla excuse to explain our results? Art…Why would you allow your children to attend such schools? P.S. Has the LIberal O.C. backed off yet?
Santa Ana – Education 64th!
I am happy to say that my children all merited scholastic awards this year. My 17 year old is an AP student at Godinez Fundamental. He was the #2 ranked student at the school this year. He is dating the #1 ranked student. Clever lad. He also pitched for his school baseball team and he plays both the guitar and the drums.
Both of my younger boys also won awards. All three of my boys won English/Reading awards, which I guess one might expect as both my wife and I are avid readers. And my daughter graduated from college with a GPA over 3.0, from a very difficult school, FIDM.
I have not yet looked at the Register story you referenced. Will do so tonight.
Are you saying Sal Tinajero is single and never married with no ninos?
Mr. Pedroza…It’s obvious you are proud of your kids, as all parents are but don’t you chose to send your kids to the worst school district in Orange County. Why? Saying your children are top of their class in Santa Ana wonderful but what does it really mean when the schools are so bad? I”m sure there must be other reasons why you live in Santa ana but I can’t figure out why.

There are a lot of great kids in this town. And our teachers have gone through the same training that other teachers in other districts have gone through.
Every college in the country wants my 17 year old. That he is from Santa Ana is immaterial.
Why do we live here? My wife is a third generation resident of this city. She was born here. She graduated from Santa Ana High, as did my daughter. My mother in law was a Saint too.
This town has much to offer. Does it have challenges? Of course. But I think for the most part that there are more positives than there are negatives.
Much will depend on up and coming generations. All the more reason to do what we can to improve the SAUSD. But be assured that at least their fundamental schools are working. My kids are proof of that.
Sal Tinajero has not been on the board for a few years. Jose Hernandez sent at least one of his kids to SA schools. Audrey sent her kids to SA schools until High School. I’m not trying to make a point other than maybe just a request that we all try to be factual.

What do you think is really behind this lawsuit with Mr. Dan? If you could put yourself in his shoes for just a minute what would you say is motivating him? Have you tried to just drive over to his home and knock on the door and just say, “Hey Dan, I’m sorry”? I know it’s hard to put your pride aside but it’s what really needs to happen to drop this whole thing.

If I thought he would welcome such a visit, I would certainly do that. But I just received another nastygram from his lawyer today. That, I guess, is their response.
I put my pride aside by writing a post last week declaring that we are ending the blog war. I hoped it would be well received by the Lib OC guys, but I guess not.
We will continue to take the high road and we will continue to put up interesting, compelling posts, like this one that you are commenting on, about the upcoming Santa Ana School Board race in November.

Education is about tolerance, an open mind and inspiring our youth to excel.
Discrimination is based on generalizing on a group of people, and is counterproductive to education.
Lupe Moreno has used very vulgar language, unjustifiably, to generalize against a group of people, and to cause great offense.
