Even with the possibility of feeding the State trough with another $1Billion – Abel Maldonado couldn’t overcome his own green streak.
You see – Arnold wanted to drill in one tiny spot way off the Santa Barbara Coast and the resulting taxes from that Oil Lease would have brought in $1Billion. (ABx4 23)
Even Democrats voted Yes!
But, Last year Abel Maldonado voted against ABx4 23 (2009) which would have authorized off shore oil drilling for the Tranquillon Ridge project.
With gas at $4 a gallon – Abel Maldonado decided to refuse relief at the pump (while voting for the most massive tax increase in State History!)
But on this issue – Maldonado has been consistent. He voted yes on AJR82 in 1999 – this called on Congress to Ban Offshore Drilling in its’ entirety.
Abel Maldonado’s rampage against the poor includes:
Voting to Raise Tobacco Taxes
Voting to Raise Sales Taxes
Voting to Raise minimum wage- creating inflation and diminishing purchasing power.
Voting for anti-business regulations making hiring and expanding more difficult.
And now, preventing more supplies of fuel.
The Poor get hit harder by Tobacco Taxes, Sales Taxes and Gas Prices than any other class…
Abel Maldonado – the total package.
(But at least he voted for Socialized Medicine!)

I’m not an Abel fan, although I don’t care which Republican Gavin or Janice beats for the LG post in November.
But what is this socialized medicine you claim he voted for, Aaron?
And this is the putz that new Assemblyman and town drunk Chris Norby supported for Lt. Governor.
Coming soon, Vern
So he voted for the Leno single payer bill? Anyways, I dont like Abel on 70% of what he stands for, but I want candidates who dont use the LGBT community as punching bags. Thats why I am voting for him in the primary.
Matt – if your single issue is “Gay Rights” then Abel Maldonado’s values are yours.
