My name is Lee McGroarty and I'd like to thank Mr. Gilbert for providing the opportunity to express my positions on issues that matter to the people of the 42nd Congressional District. I have read Mr. Gilbert's transcript and will try to fill in a few areas that may need clarification. For anyone that would like to contact me or ask any question, I am available by phone at 949-648-0171 or via my website at www.mcgroartyforcongress.com.

1. The economy -- It is the private sector that will get us out of the mess created over the past decade by Congress. Congressman Miller chose not to listen to the people of the 42nd District during the Bailouts. It is business that built California and America and it will be business that will get us back to prosperity. Business and free markets will be my primary focus as outlined on my website as well as in the interview above.

2. I was asked about Debt. My Republican Party talks quite often about reducing the size of the Federal Government. However, during the past decade, our federal deficits have skyrocketed (and that was mostly under a Republican-controlled Congress.) In fact, from 2000 to 2006, not one spending bill submitted by a Republican Congress was vetoed by President Bush. We need fiscal discipline in Washington and our current Congressman has chosen to blame Democrats yet he gets millions in earmarks, quite often for uses outside the 42nd District. That will end when I get to DC.

3. Federal Reserve -- Mr. Gilbert asked me about Geithner and AIG. My concern is that Geithner, Paulson and Bernanke chose to protect the banks at the expense of the American People. 18 months after TARP, the banks that were "Too Big to Fail" are even bigger. Congress placed few restrictions on the Fed. These three individuals must take some blame for the economic crisis. Their policies were wrong then and I believe are wrong now. Lastly, a recent amendment called the Ron Paul Amendment passed in the House Financial Services Committee. 10 Democrats and every Republican EXCEPT for 1 voted for the amendment which provides authority for auditing of the Federal Reserve. The lone Republican to vote AGAINST the amendment was our Congressman Gary Miller. When elected, I will vote with my fellow Republicans for the auditing of the Fed. I also will push for legislation to remove the authority of the Fed to control the money supply. Short-term interest rates should be affected by the markets, just as intermediate and long-term rates are. The Fed has caused more "bubbles" during the past 2 decades and they are prolonging this recession. Get back to Free Markets and one way of doing this is to limit the power of the Fed!

4. Mr. Gilbert asked me about Homeland Security. I want to clarify the statement that I want Homeland Security scrapped. I want the Homeland Security DEPARTMENT scrapped. The recent underwear bomber is an example of a bloated bureaucracy that did very little to prevent this type of attack. Fortunately, Americans on the plane thwarted the attack. I want efficient government, not an overweight government. We must consolidate our intelligence agencies but we can do this without another Federal bureaucracy. The same is true with education. Eliminate the Education Department and get that money back to the States where it belongs.

I will be glad to comment on any question you may have for me. Thank you for your time and consideration.
