Alan Grayson is leading the fight for a “Medicare-You-Can-Buy-Into” bill to be passed this year (which I’ll write about soon) – It’s exactly what the “far from perfect” Healthcare Reform needs to keep down costs and give us a real choice when we’re required to get insurance. He’s also the number one target for the GOP this year because he is outspoken, entertaining, and effective – and yet, by all reports, the Republicans in his majority-Republican Orlando district think he’s the greatest things since sliced bread – go figure!
He’s having what we call a “Money Bomb” today, so I shoulda put this up earlier – I tossed $15 in the pot this morning even though I’m just a poor musician, and I invite you too as well – even if you disagree with him sometimes, what would you do without his entertainment?

Grayson Accused of Campaign Finance Violation
“No member of Congress has railed as vociferously as Alan Grayson has against the supposedly pernicious influence corporations have on our political process, but now he’s getting busted for illegally soliciting corporate donations himself,” National Republican Congressional Committee spokesman Andy Sere said in a statement. “Like too many loud-mouthed Washington politicians, Grayson’s motto appears to be, ‘Do as I scream, not as I do.’”
And what does this refer to, rightwing ground? (I’m on to you.)
Nice quote from the NATIONAL REPUBLICAN CONGRESSIONAL COMMITTEE SPOKESMAN! You should have provided a link. This was all cleared up last year. It was not a violation. (I think it was in regards to his “Names of the Dead” site, which really made the Republicans uncomfortable.)
Alan Grayson is a complete wacko nutjob who won’t be in office after November.
last year too? hmmm….

Grayson is accused in a complaint filed Wednesday with the Federal Election Commission of breaking federal campaign finance laws earlier this week when his campaign solicited prohibited corporate campaign contributions on behalf of a Florida political candidate, Scott Maddox.

for the libs out there.
Thank you rightground. Although you make it sound like more than one complaint. I fully expect this complaint to turn out as meritless as the one last year – we’ll see, that’s what we have our system of justice for!
And I fully expect to hear more and more of this, as the months go on and he pisses off more and more powerful people. From your link:
A central Florida voter is filing a federal elections complaint against Rep. Alan Grayson, claiming he violated federal law by soliciting corporate donations for a nonfederal candidate… A Grayson spokesman said an elections attorney was consulted and said the complaint had no merit.
Wonder if you have any substantive policy criticisms of Grayson?
Nah, I guess not. Then you’d have to stop your charade of being “middle ground” and show your partisan Republican self.
Firebrand Democratic U.S. Rep. Alan Grayson released a poll this week that says Republican voters in his district like him more than any of the GOP candidates vying to replace him this fall. BWHAAHAHAHA!!
http://blogs.orlandosentinel.com/news_politics/2010/03/graysons-poll-shows-he-wins-the-gop-primary-to-replace-him.html
While 77 percent of Republicans knew who Grayson was, the survey showed, none of the GOP candidates scored higher than 15 percent in name-recognition. Grayson would not release to poll itself, but a campaign official offered to answer any questions about it.
The Republican spokesman Sere said that the polling firm Grayson used is not well-known in congressional circles , and doesn’t even advertise that it does survey research on its website. Without the poll’s details, it’s hard to say how valid any of its conclusions are, he said.
This “Republican spokesman Andy Sere,” you think very highly of him, don’t you? He sounds like a real objective source on Alan Grayson! I bet he’ll provide you with little tidbits all day, until it gets dark!
I’ll be back if you have something substantive, but I’m multitasking right now…
grayson filed a complaint with the Attorney General demanding fines and jail time for a central Florida woman who started a web site entitled “my congressman is nuts“. Grayson’s web site is “congressman with guts.”
What a brave man.
Well, “someone accused him of this,” “Andy Sere said that,” … and I don’t hear anyone criticizing his Medicare You Can Buy Into Plan, which, whenever I describe it to conservative or Republican friends, they almost always like the sound of it! (When I don’t tell them it’s Grayson’s bill… I really wish it had a less controversial spokesman.)

The bill itself (only 4 pages long)

You’ve convinced me, rightground – I just tossed in another $15. Who’s with me?

it’s your money. or at least it was.
4% Real Estate Transfer tax – sell a $400K home, pay $16,000 to complete the deal. Change we can believe in.
3.5% Investment Tax, 3.8% Annuity tax (on money you have already paid income tax on before depositing in to the annuity anyway)
Subjecting Non-Profits to Corporate Income taxes (putting some out of business, paving the way for more government takeovers)
10% excise tax on tanning booth visits
The Democrat Party – The Party of the Little Guy!
B.S. Vern – and you are the author of another tax increase that is on the June Ballot!? At least you’re consistent.
What is this list? I’m confused. Are those parts of the health care bill? I don’t think so. What are they, various ideas that are being floated around by some Democrats?
This 10% on tanning booths I’m assuming is the inverse of the Cornhusker Kickback – the idea must be to squeeze money out of Majority Leader Boehner.
But stop it Sergeant with Prop 15 being a tax – it is a fee on lobbyists – or if you insist, a tax on lobbyists – bringing their annual fee to lobby from 12 bucks to 350 bucks – about what they make in one hour. Maybe you’re a lobbyist, I don’t remember. But I spoke to three lobbyists who feel the fee is not unreasonable at all (their organization only opposes it because reform will start to chip away at their outsized power.)
Maybe you can explain to us, Sergeant, why you are so concerned with keeping lobbyist fees down to 12$ a year. Maybe you can explain why you like politicians to remain answerable mainly to groups and people who can afford high-priced lobbyists? Well – at least you’re consistent!
Congressman Grayson says thanks to all of you, he pulled in half a million dollars yesterday. From his list of reasons that various people gave (and make note – he’s been a busy boy this year!)
Some of you gave because you know that I introduced, you supported, and we passed a bill to end Wall Street bonuses paid with taxpayer money.
Or because I teamed up with Congressman Ron Paul – and you – to get his 26-year-old bill to audit the Federal Reserve passed.
Or because I’m pushing hard for “Medicare You Can Buy Into,” and because over 50,000 of you have joined me.
Or because I introduced a mandatory foreclosure mediation program in Orlando that already has gone statewide.
Or because I recognized that the Republicans’ health care plan is “don’t get sick.”
Some of you gave because you can imagine an America where we don’t tout the fact that we are #1 in military expenditures, or #1 in foreign countries occupied, but rather that we can become #1 in health, in education, in quality of life, and in happiness.
Whatever your reason, thank you. I’m the first Democrat to represent my district in 34 years. The Executive Director of the National Republican Congressional Committee said that I’m the Republicans’ #1 target in 2010. I asked for your help, and 15,000 of us came through for me.
And Vern says thanks as well to all the Orange Juice readers who contributed; those who are still hostile to this great Congressman because of his abrasive style should rethink while considering his achievements in one short year.
