Jeffrey Lalloway Announces Campaign for Irvine City Council

Irvine , California – Jeffrey Lalloway, Irvine City Finance Commissioner, today announced his campaign for Irvine City Council.  Lalloway released a formal statement outlining his goals and a list of community leaders who have endorsed his candidacy.

Lalloway pledged to “restore accountability and fiscal responsibility to our city government while securing the promise of Irvine ’s bright future.”  Irvine , he said, has had a tradition of “Great schools, safe streets, superior housing, neighborhood parks, open space and a community friendly vision for the future. But, over the last several years, our local government has lost track of that commitment.”

Lalloway placed the responsibility for this failure with the current city council majority. “They (the majority) have wasted millions of dollars on no-bid contracts and sweetheart deals for political friends, while our schools, parks and public safety suffer. Their waste of taxpayer dollars has severely impacted the future of Irvine ”

Lalloway serves as Vice Chairman of the Irvine Finance Commission. On the commission he has repeatedly questioned the mismanagement of municipal funds by the City Council. Lalloway has been especially alarmed by the lack of accountably on the Great Park financial dealings.

Heading the list of endorsements are Congressman John Campbell and Congressman Ed Royce. Lalloway also has earned the endorsement of current councilmembers Steven Choi and Christina Shea as well as Community College Board President Donald Wagner and Irvine School Board Members Carolyn McInerney and Michael Parham.

An attorney and businessman, Lalloway 47, lives with his wife and two young children Regan and Sydney in the Sheridan Place neighborhood of Irvine .

The election for two city council seats will be held on Tuesday November 2, 2010.
