Wow, PianoBoy, I guess Bambi got off easy with just a mere bullet to the head! I will never quite enjoy Christmas again like I used to...thanks a lot!

Great writing, Vern! Next year I expect to read the sequel, maybe with the Elve's union rep calling a strike as a hardball response to Santa's refusal to cave to his demands, notwithstanding the North Pole law prohibiting Elves from striking ". . . on or about Christmas Eve or six (6) month time period immediately preceeding said date." Then, of course, there was the usual intimidating violence. Fires set in the toy factory. The sleigh up on cinder blocks and the runners nowhere to be found. "Santa Sux" spray painted on the walls of the factory. The horror. The horror.

On the other hand, unlike others here, I find the "Rudolph Story" to be singularly uplifting. His uniqueness is transformed by random opportunity from a basis for ridicule into the realization of his peers that what makes him different is valuable to the community, as is he. As for the complaint that Santa stood by and did nothing to sheild Rudolph from ridicule by his peers, hey, wake up and smell the Gingergread Latte! Each reindeer has to stand on his or her own four hooves, not rely on the imposition of authority from above for his or her own well being and livelihood. The North Pole is a meritocracy, not a nanny state!!!

. . . and on that note, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year and best wishes on the celebration of whatever other religious or secular or downright pagan festival in which you engage at this time each year! :-)

that's the saddest story I ever read. I guess I have been brainwashed by Walt Disney. For the most part the people reading this blog probably already see the BS in reality so they don't need a story to point it out.

Inimitable writing, Vern! On first read, I thought this was outrageous, but as I re-read it, I realized there's more truth in the ridiculousness than I'd care to imagine. And it started off so funny, so when I got to the end, I felt guilty for laughing because the conclusion was so sad when I considered how many precious things in this world are ruined for purposes as seemingly absurd as propagating luminous noses.

I ditto #6!... Indeed [Remakably creative, poignant and well-written post.]End of Citation.

What impressed me most brother Vern, beyond the text itself, are these snowflakes which you have poignantly embedded between the sections like this.

                            ***

It rely captured spirit of the Christmas and birth of Jesus. You are good religious believer in the God brother Vern. Bless you.

I would say that you are the Abominable Snowman...a bit nuts, and stinky, but easily defanged and neutralized by using our spam filter!

So who am I?... if you are the king of the misfits?

you could argue that the local red and blue blogs are the nasty reindeer who toss you out if you don’t toe their party lines.

Lam,

So true! Santa is a real jerk in the Rudolph story and so are the other reindeer.

By the way, Vern missed an obvious analogy in his story. We at the Orange Juice are the misfit toys. And you could argue that the local red and blue blogs are the nasty reindeer who toss you out if you don't toe their party lines.

I would rather be the king of the misfits than some asshole reindeer!

As you now know if you read this painstakingly researched story, Lam, it was even worse than that.

May I sadly wish you a Merry Christmas as well. :(
