No surprise, all currently illegal drugs should be legalized, taxed and regulated.
These are adults at least over 18, probally older.
Take the excessive profit out of drugs and you reduce the funding for extremists.
SHould this be a reason to leave?
I do not think so, a lot of people in this country do the same thing, are we going to pull the police off the street and let what ever happens happen?
I agree. It’s not a reason to leave. I don’t think these are even American troops. However, America should pull out of the Middle East entirely, quite giving Israel and other Arab countries tons of money, and stop killing thousands of innocent men, women, and children in Iraq. The only justifiable reason for America to go into Afghanistan is to bring Osama Bin Laden to justice.
This is another Vietnam. Bring them home now! I’d hate to lose a son or daughter in the useless war which may have been started by Bush but now is owned by Obama.
I didn’t mean to suggest that the reason we’d leave would be that our Afghan allies like to get high.
I would just ADD our allies’ unreliability and unseriousness to a long list of reasons to leave.
And yes this is obviously a British report filmed amongst British NATO troops; I don’t imagine it’s much different with the Afghans that work with our troops.
Also, I shared the video because it’s FUNNY.
This clip reminds me of a passage from the excellently written book “The March of Folly”. The passage covers events in South Vietnam and talks about how the Americans were doing all the fighting and dying while the South Vietnamese soldiers were sitting around smoking pot. Obama says he wants to pull out troops after 2011 since then he hopes Afghan army will stand on its feet and will be ready to take on the Taliban. Seriously it will be an army of addicts and addicts only fight when they need drugs. Go do the math.
Hopefully, some of these GI’s will smuggle some of this shit back and make a little money.
They are poorly paid, subjected to horrfific weather and environments, face death all for the pittance that we offer our servicemen and women, all the while Cheney, Rumsfeld and company that started this mess are living on the Potomic in mansions.
Plus, there has been a huge HASH drought in California for the last ten years!

Thanks for sharing Vern! It is a good video and shows what it’s like. I wonder though if this is the exception to the rule or if most of them like to get high and shoot into the air. I’m guessing it happens a lot. It doesn’t seem like they are passionately fighting for their freedom. It seems as though the Afghan troops are doing this because there weren’t many other options. We need to get out of Iraq and Afghanistan if we aren’t going to get Osama Bin Laden.

Great video. Hell yes we ought to pull out. And we ought to pull out of Germany, Japan and Korea.
We should not be trying to save the world. Not when we cannot even save our own economy.
Yet another reason why Obama is such a big disappointment…
I agree, I hope Obama gets us out soon, and the President has been a disappointment in many ways.
But I don’t think it’s quite accurate to say he’s a disappointment on Afghanistan in particular. After all, he said very plainly throughout last year’s campaign that he would pull out of Iraq and put more resources into Afghanistan. Compared with old war-mongering McCain, though, Obama sure seemed like much the least of two evils on the war front.
