Michelle, you little twit. Even if your figure that "30% of all Welfare use is in California" is true (btw is it? source?) that doesn't contradict Sunny's fact that "less than 1% of the budget goes to welfare." That's like saying that just because Michelle Quinn drank 90% of a bottle of Bushmill's, 90% of all Bushmill's is drunk by Michelle Quinn.

You stated 1% goes to Welfare. Are you kidding??

30% of all welfare use is in California. You are right about corps looting, because a large corp.. Non-profit ie.. Choc Health Alliance is making millions off fed/state/local taxes.

This state is being blead by unions,non-profits/local governments and of course welfare/education/jail for illegal Aliens.

It is a fact!

Sunny, you do a good job of illustrating how dumb the voters are. Another post on this blog also illustrates this sad situation. That post cites Howard Jarvis Taxpayers' Asoc. President Coupal describing how voters were duped into voting for the high speed rail bonds. (Of course some feel the voters were duped to vote for Prop. 13 way back in 1978 too!) Clearly there is a whole industry out there that exists because the voters can be duped and misled and there is money to be made in doing just that. Petition signature gatherers, who are paid for each signature, are but one example of how voting by the masses can be steered. I don't know the answer to this one, but it sure is a scary situation. I say beware any initiative, no matter how wonderful it may sound on the surface.

Michelle: less than 1% of the budget goes to welfare.

Most money goes to Wall St. crooks (TARP), and to war contractors. It doesn't matter how much we cut spending or raise taxes, there will always be a non-stop economic "crisis" because the people at the top are looting the Treasury.

During the recall election debates, Arianna Huffington said that Arnold was being put in by the corporations to run up a big defict and a big debt. She was right, and Wall St is making money off of the interest payments and will be for decades to come.

Now that moron Arnold wants a 15 billion dollar water bond. I'm sure his masters at Goldman Sachs will make billions if it passes.

How could people have been stupid enough to elect an uneducated, inexperienced body builder whose claim to fame was appearing in stupid movies. Yeah, let's put this imbecile in charge of the fifth largest economy in the world.

Now people are shocked--shocked!--that this narcissistic moron has run our state into the ground.

Michelle,

What you say:

"The stability of this country depends on fiscial responsibility."

What the experts say:

The data in this article and the Census Bureau projections depict a situation with no immigration that is one of a stagnating and then declining labor force, with increasing numbers of retirees depending on a dwindling working population. Immigration at traditional levels would offset that decline and help assure a growing economy and support for the retiring populace.

This can only occur by immigration legal or not based on youth.....babies.

The experts have data, what data do you have? Yeah, none ....all you have is your ignorant opinion. You are consistent.

"America does not need babies born from the poor, uneducated, and needy to sustain itself."

The USA contradicts you. America has already produced this. The census bureau has the data.

"Focus Doc, This is about what type of immigrant this country needs to sustain its greatness. Africa has lots of babies!"

You totally miss the message the experts have concluded. Understandably as it blows holes in your agenda.

"Britain is a mess right now because of run away immigration, the British would very much disagree with you!"

Their immigration was calculated and by recruitment. They initially missmanaged it by marginalization and neglect of those imported to build their workforce. Britain is now correcting this mistake.

We need to learn from Britain's mistakes by nurturing and developing this valuable natural resource that will be the majority in less than 30 years. Your energy and passion would be positive if directed in this manner.

"I really don't think we will ever agree on immigration issues."

You are disagreeing with our government's strategy. You are not disagreeing with me on this as I did not formulate the strategy.

Merry Christmas to you and your family.

The more poor, the more money needed. Immigration to this country has brought industry and self sustaining people. America does not need babies born from the poor, uneducated, and needy to sustain itself.

Re focus on the thread. It is not about your personal opinions of immigration. the thread is about a immigration national strategy tool for economic stability by immigrants producing the babies to make this happen.

“The data in this article and the Census Bureau projections depict a situation with no immigration that is one of a stagnating and then declining labor force, with increasing numbers of retirees depending on a dwindling working population. Immigration at traditional levels would offset that decline and help assure a growing economy and support for the retiring populace.”

The message is that the USA government understands the need for a youthful population that is required to be the labor force and necessary to fund MEDICARE/SOCIAL SECURITY to support the aging population.

America is not producing the babies required therefore the need for immigration legal or not.

White collar immigrants as most of assimilated and native born USA citizens also have the issue of an average of two children. The breakdown in immigration is a strategy to have immigrants legal or not in the USA which will provide the babies necessary for the economic stability of America.

France, Italy and Britian are going through the same process of immigration to produce the babies necessary for their economic stability.

The Latinos went home because the housing boom blew up. And housing boomed because Bush-Greenspan-Bernanke kept interest rates artificially low while debasing the dollar (inflation). But, as it always does, the boom turned into a bust.

Good! this should save Calfornia about 9bil in Education, jail, social services.
If they are going to let more immigrants in- there are about a million on the waiting list.. doctors, teachers, nurses ect...

The Socialist Security and Medicare schemes are collapsing

of course it is collapsing, this country is too big for anything socialised. We spend so much on stupid welfare for losers and illegal immigrants and their children that they don't have the money to put in to worth will programs ie.. medicare..

Why? Mexicans are paid less to do the same work. Somehow they are supposed to be thankful that the people (Europeans) who robbed and pillaged their land are willing

The Spanish are to blame! If you have not noticed who runs Mexico- its the Spanish ancestors of the robbers; What you are forgetting is that they are coming here for work, because their own country is run by their own corrupt. It is not the fault of anyone except the people of Mexico that they allow their Government to do nothing, but instead give them a bottle of water and a map to come to this foregin land for work.

Right now the system is set up to push them off of their own land through NAFTA, and then when they risk their lives to come here to find work, as NAFTA was set up for them to do, they are criminalized and called “aliens,” as if they were creatures from Mars instead of North Americans whose ancestry dates back on this continent thousands of years.

I do think NAFRA should be dismantled and let the Mexicans get to work on their lands and hopefully produce something other than drugs. All immigrants are called aliens if they are not legal- not just Mexicans. But it seams that Mexicans, think they should be treated different, than other immigrants.

ppl will not understand what you have explained– I have tried it many times and it seems far fetched to my anglo friends that they will be moving south.

Just in time, if you think people are going to move south, i suggest you get going now so you can buy a nice property on the beach. I hear beach front property is going cheap. With fifteen thousand people dead from the drug wars going on in Mexico in the last year, i am sure property is going the market all the time.

All i can say, is that if you think for one moment anyone would want to move to a place that they can not even trust their own cops, YOUR BOTH NUTS!

Re: "I would be careful using the term exploitation."

Why? Mexicans are paid less to do the same work. Somehow they are supposed to be thankful that the people (Europeans) who robbed and pillaged their land are willing to give them a few dollars a day to do backbreaking, dangerous work. That's sounds like exploitation to me.

Right now the system is set up to push them off of their own land through NAFTA, and then when they risk their lives to come here to find work, as NAFTA was set up for them to do, they are criminalized and called "aliens," as if they were creatures from Mars instead of North Americans whose ancestry dates back on this continent thousands of years.

It's nothing more than a massive human rights violation. NAFTA should be repealed and Mexicans should have fair and free elections. Moreover, the US should stop underwriting corrupt regimes in Mexico and the rest of Latin America.

Art, I'm afraid things are much worse than can be imagined by anyone, even me.

The Latinos went home because the housing boom blew up. And housing boomed because Bush-Greenspan-Bernanke kept interest rates artificially low while debasing the dollar (inflation). But, as it always does, the boom turned into a bust. Housing won't boom again for decades. The boom was perpetrated as a way to hide the immense cost of Bush's wars, at least $5 brillion for Iraq (so far, according to Nobel economist Stiglitz) and trillions more for Afghanistan.

Bush bankrupted America. The Socialist Security and Medicare schemes are collapsing, as you noted. But that was the nature of FDR's scheme: once the Baby Boom was followed by a Baby Bust, the whole rotting infrastructure would collapse because the earning generation wasn't big enough to support the retired generation. Add to that wars, deflation, deficits and debt from Bush, and high taxes for Obamacare socialize medicine -- and bringing in a couple million Latinos wouldn't help.

In fact, why would they come here to become slaves paying for decades of the gringos' own socialist folly?

Rather, we'll soon see not only recent immigrants go back to Mexico and elsewhere in Latin America. Next, we'll see Latinos born here go to find jobs in the lands of their ancestors. Then gringos will go there by the millions.

Indeed, Mexico's government, never well run, today actually is better run than the U.S. government, only because the U.S. government has gotten so much worse. Mexico has no expensive foreign wars and minimal socialized medicine.

Soon, Latinos in Mexico, Colombia, Peru, Costa Rica, etc. will begin complaining about all the gringos coming down there for work, speaking bad or no Spanish, demanding Budweiser and American "football" on TV. The locals will remember "los días viejos buenos" before "Los Yanquis" ruined everything.

Sunny.
I would be careful using the term exploitation.

Long before NAFTA I watched American firms outsourcing labor intensive electronic contract manufacturing to in-bond Maquiladora plants in Mexico. This pre NAFTA activity was initiated to take advantage of lower labor costs.

At the time it was considered a win-win. Mexican workers were able to find jobs in their home towns while US and European firms benefited from lower cost of goods.

In fact our trading of goods with Mexico was very high. In reality jobs were created with large manufacturing plants being constructed.

Exploitation? We could surely debate the pro's and con's.

PS: Over the past two decades low cost Mexican labor has been replaced by even cheaper labor from manufacturing plants in China and other Asian countries.
