Assemblyman Anthony Adams has reason to celebrate after beating Mike Schroeder’s recall effort
“The Orange County-based effort to recall Assemblyman Anthony Adams, R-Hesperia, has been abandoned as proponents have decided not to sue to put the recall on the ballot,” according to the O.C. Register.
What this means is that OC GOP powerbroker Mike Schroeder is going to run off with about $100,000 that fans of the John and Ken radio show donated to the recall.
Schroeder claims he will use the money to back a candidate against Adams, who drew the Republican Party’s ire when he voted to increase our taxes last year.
Schroeder hired Santa Ana resident Tim Whitacre to run the recall. Needless to say, it failed miserably when Voter Registrars in Los Angeles and San Bernardino Counties said too many of the signatures that Whitacre’s paid goons collected were no bueno.
Why anyone would hire Whitacre to do anything is a real mystery. He worked on the successful recall of former SAUSD Trustee Nativo Lopez years ago. Ever since he has lost every race he has touched, with the exception of getting himself elected to the OC GOP Central Committee. Even Bill Hunt is now inching away from him.
The other lesson learned here is that recalls should not be driven by people who don’t even live in the affected area. It was wrong for people in Newport Beach to tell folks in San Bernardino and Los Angeles Counties how to vote, regardless of how much Adams sucks.
And the bottom line is that in June the voters will be able to bid Adams adieu. Without the expense of a recall election…

What role exactly did Mr. Whitacre play?
