Matthew and Ceci Iglesias Christmas

Ceci Iglesias appears to know more about Christmas than Congresswoman Loretta Sanchez does

I received a Christmas card today, via email, from Ceci Iglesias, the independent Latina who is running against Congresswoman Loretta Sanchez.  You can see Ceci’s card above.  It is exactly what one might expect a Christmas card to be.

Contrast that with Sanchez’ latest Christmas offering, which shows her ballroom dancing while her cat, Gretzky, looks on.  Last year’s Sanchez card showed her vacationing on a beach, with her cat.  And the year before she was on a Harley – again with Gretzky the cat.

What is usually missing from Sanchez’ Christmas cards?  How about any semblance of respect for the holiday?  And no family?

How did Sanchez grow up in a family headed by Mexican immigrants and somehow not learn the meaning of Christmas?

I looked in Sanchez’ book, Dream in Color, for answers.  Sanchez wrote about how giving her mom was.  I have a feeling that Christmas matters to Sanchez’ mom.  But does Congresswoman Sanchez have a clue about what Navidad is all about?  I think not.

What you do take away after perusing Sanchez’ cards is that she has no clue about Christmas – and maybe never will.  Sanchez is all about Sanchez.  And her cat.

The cards also tell you that she is somewhat of a lightweight.  Really, this is the best our community can do?  That is hard to believe.

The irony is that Christmas really matters to most of Sanchez’ constituents.  Santa Ana has perhaps more churches than any other city in Orange County.  Anaheim also has a lot of huge churches.

Sanchez has two key constituencies, Latinos and Vietnamese Americans.  Both are deeply religious.  Not all of the latter are Christians, granted, but many are.

Why does Sanchez risk offending these constituents with her silly Christmas cards?

Say what you will about Bob Dornan, but he respected the holiday.  And as goofy as he could be from time to time, he had a lot more respect for the voters and for the institution that is our Congress than Sanchez appears to.

Here are a few of Sanchez’ past Christmas cards:
