Again, Art tries to introduce the argument that he and I are talking about the same thing.

Why does Art Pedroza continue to equate marriage with sex? So some old lady wants to marry her cat because its the one thing in the world that gives her affection and its about sex? You can only conclude that Art thinks gay marriage is all about anal intercourse. How crude and small minded. Why the obsession with gay sex Art?

And to call WHATEVER other people do as depravities? What bigotry and hatred you evidence.

Art Pedroza even goes so far as to equate gay marriage with a tribute song to Queen. He introduced this whole sorry topic with my happy little article. And maybe nobody else is even reading. Its beyond ridiculous. Does anyone really think Freddie Mercury would want his songs remembered that way?

And why call people who want their marriage performed in churches bigots, Art? Why the hate? Maybe the fact that it was a fun little article was something he couldn't let pass.

Art's refusal to abandon his hypocrisy, stop his goosestepping Cultural Gestapo tactics and realize he doesn't claim the flag of tolerance, sure doesn't make him any easier to read, does it?

Terry,

Ruh roh! Just found this on Wikipedia:

By 1985, he began another long-term relationship with a hairdresser named Jim Hutton. Hutton, who himself was tested HIV-positive in 1990,[47] lived with Mercury for the last six years of his life, nursed him during his illness and was present at his bedside when he died. Hutton also claims that Mercury died wearing a wedding band that Hutton had given him.

Terry,

What is your problem with gay people? Why do you keep trying to equate them with bestiality and other such depravities?

I don't get it. I know you don't go to church. So you aren't exactly a nutter. What gives?

There is nothing disdainful about homosexuality!

As I have said before, the greatest threat to marriage is straight people. Just look at all the married, conservative Republican politicians who have cheated on their wives this year!

Red Vixen is right. Divorce rates are through the roof. Nevertheless, many gay couples want to get married. That should not be illegal in our allegedly free republic.

No Vern, the insult is thinking you can judge what ANYBODY else does. I don't provide any slippery slope. You do. I say there's no reason to judge anybody or what anybody wants. And if you can deduce that any American be able to marry the person they love, what about the other 51 definitions of love and marriage Vern? Why leave them out in the cold? What makes them less? Oh wait, you mean standards and culture? Sorry, those can't apply. Those are imposing values. You can't get away with telling someone "What you believe is unfair." and then turn around and say "I don't have to be fair." Fair all around. This is self evident.

Now Art, if someone prefers to have their marriage performed in church, that does not make them bigots, and I dont know why you would hate religion so much to say such a godawful thing. Just shows how narrowminded you are. And I don't know about the CA Libertarian Party, but what I wrote is the platform of the National Libertarian Party. Neither protest nor endorse. People have a right to be wrong. Not goosestepping to the latest cause celebre while secretly not caring about fairness.

Look, the two of you, I have not heard a single thing that says you actually care about being fair to EVERYONE. You won't go there. You talk about how religious people are bigots or repeat the oft proved false canard of 10% of the population being gay. That's it.

Give the right to decide what marriage is to everyone. But you don't care. Because its not popular at your wine sipping parties or amongst the group of folks you talk to who sound just like you.

Here I am, amidst people I disagree with everyday, and all Vern can say often is, "Well, I don't read that stuff". (muttering under breath)

My last word on this, because I think it falls on deaf ears.

I've heard Terry's take on marriage equality many times, and I can restate it but it is still strikes me as pure nonsensical sophistry. All I can figure is a) he's attached to it because it's original and he's proud of it and stubborn; or b) something about the issue makes him irrational, and maybe Zenger is on to something.

Ten percent of us are born gay. It is not "special rights" or a "special definition of marriage" for any adult American to be able to marry the (adult) person they love. This just seems to me "self-evident" like slavery being wrong or all Americans being endowed by their creator with the right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. The "slippery slope" worry of incest and polygamy (let alone bestiality) is a red-herring insult to our 30 million gay Americans.

And on top of that Terry purports to speak for Libertarians on this? As Parliament-Funkadelic sang, "Does not compute."

Terry,

That is ridiculous. The California Libertarian Party opposed Prop. 8. So did the OC Libertarian Party.

That is because it is injust and unfair to oppose gay marriage.

I don't believe that churches should be forced to perform gay marriages if they prefer to be bigots. But there are churches that accept gay marriage. Why tell them what to do?

Liberty restrained by haters is not freedom.

Wanna get married? So get married already. Get any kind of married you want. Same sex, different sex, indeterminate sex. Marry early and marry often.

Get married in a church, in a chapel, in a private ceremony of your own devising. Government has no legitimate place in the marriage of free and sovereign individuals.

Get married by the powers inherently invested in yourselves.

The question libertarians ask the gay community is the same they ask everyone else: why do you need a bureaucrat to sanction your marriage?

Don't let a bunch of Leftists lead you down the path to needing government to abide you. That's nonsense.

No, Art, you don't get to decide what is ok and what is not. That is the point.

And I don't care how bright you say Zenger is. You're pretty bright, and you're an idiot. And he's a Republican? Strike two. And, he's clearly not conservative. Not bright, not conservative, Republican. Three strikes. Nuf said.

The only haters are the people like you Art, who go around knowing you think so much better than everybody else. Again, a majority of the country doesn't agree with you that gays should get special rights. Get over it.

I didn't compare gay marriage to anything. I said, if you want to give one group of people the right to decide what marriage means to ONE group, you have to give it to ALL. Only addle-pated Leftists who see the world in terms of groups and colors would consider otherwise.

In fact, I consider you maintaining that marriage centers around sex to be quaint and old fashioned, and sort of old timerly, kind of like the rest of your ideas. Good luck with them.

And if you liked Queen so much, you wouldn't have turned a fun little ditty into an opportunity to breath heavy all over the place. You'd have written your "gays deserve special rights" piece on your own.

Terry,

Dave Zenger is one of THE brightest Republicans I know. I am sad you are resorting to name-calling when you clearly don't know him.

I am a huge fan of Queen by the way. I have their greatest hits on my cell phone and listen to them all the time. Freddy was the coolest and no way would he have supported the Prop. 8 haters.

Again, you have compared gay marriage to bestiality. There is no explaining that. It is awful. You are capable of better arguments than that.

People should have the right to marry their partners - gay or otherwise.

It's not like straight marriage has a great record. Didn't Tiger Wood's wife just take a golf club to his head allegedly when she found out he was cheating on her? Mulligan!

Zenger, what a pathetic little whimp you are. "I'm just a poor boy, nobody loves me."

Vern, you have no argument. All you "heavy breathed" in my direction is a bunch of hyperbole that doesn't require a response. And thats wonderful. It takes the breath away to see the transferrence and the cowardice you evidence. You see some groups of people as deserving of more privileges. You don't like certain people and don't feel they are entitled to the same equality. I'm consistent. And I couldn't care less either way. I simply won't let the Cultural Gestapo decide what is and isn't right.

Your ignorance and hostility in the issue is telling, Art. Maybe if you actually used some of your energy towards something positive instead of going about trying to cover up all that self hatred, you might be more fun. Instead, the conversation is a waste of time. And you speaking on behalf of a dead man is about as humorous as being told if we elect Al Gore Christopher Reeve would walk again.

"Spare him his life from his monstrosity!"

I'm quite sure a self possessed, self made man unafraid to show his true self would not appreciate someone arrogant enought to think they speak for him. Since he isn't here, I will speak up in his defense, as I speak up for anyone talked about behind their back.

To take his sexuality and use it for your political and egotistical ends is reprehensible. You don't advocate anything but the moment. You simply use it to bash over the heads of those who are more sensible than you. Like, the majority of the country. Little mind, little place, little imagination.

"Mama mia let me go!" Methinks something has riled up the natives! A happy little ditty and they bring the long knives! Wheeeeee!

“Spare him his life from his monstrosity!”

I’m quite sure a self possessed, self made man unafraid to show his true self would not appreciate someone arrogant enought to think they speak for him. Since he isn’t here, I will speak up in his defense, as I speak up for anyone talked about behind their back.

To take his sexuality and use it for your political and egotistical ends is reprehensible. You don’t advocate anything but the moment. You simply use it to bash over the heads of those who are more sensible than you. Like, the majority of the country. Little mind, little place, little imagination.

“Mama mia let me go!” Methinks something has riled up the natives! A happy little ditty and they bring the long knives! Wheeeeee!
