So now I’m supposed to take the ramblings of a former stage clown like Stuart Smalley? You want to make sure that no one ever has a bankruptcy again, fine. Try it out. The idiocy of that astounds me. Get government out of peoples lives and make sure people know their health care depends on them and their medical care will take care of itself.
I still hear no response to the fact that government controlling prices doesnt control costs, and produces shortages, black markets, etc…

I thought I already responded, but maybe it was not clear:
The government instituting a strong public option (as I wish they would, I’m still not going to bet on it) would not be “the government controlling prices,” it would be a good healthy all-American dose of competition. And it WOULD eventually eliminate some of the biggest “costs” which are insurance profits, marketing, bureaucrats, CEO compensation, lobbying, advertising, campaign contributions, etc.
There are other costs, and other ways of limiting those. No time, gotta run.
Oh, and “ramblings?” The austerely laconic presentation above? Projection as always, juice brother, Stuart Smalley doesn’t ramble.

And, you know where Insurance Companies make their profits? Off the INVESTMENTS from their rates. Not the rates themselves. Why kill investment except to kill more jobs and make more people dependent on the government.

Here’s a problem we’ve been having with our house righties Terry and Larry. In just the past week:
Larry refused to click on a link refuting one of his paranoias because it came from Media Matters, whom he doesn’t trust.
Terry and Larry both refused at length to watch a Rachel Maddow video that made a point Red Vixen considered important, because “Rachel is bought and paid for” (Larry) and because she is “a Democrat mouthpiece” who “stinks” and “isn’t funny.” (Terry) so they STILL have no idea what she was saying.
Now, Terry won’t click on a two-minute video because Al Franken used to be a comedian.
Art, if you’re reading this, we need a conservative blogger here who is not so FEARFUL of sources he’s not used to.

While you were on your extended vacation the Juice team carried the load. We need to make our own calls on how we spend our time and efforts. Using the same argument you are not obligated to watch or read any of our links or post references.
While I may have an opinion on many of the issues posted on the Juice I do not have the time to peel each onion to get to the core of the debate.
One perfect illustration is the SAUSD where the comments have crashed the 1,000 mark. I simply have no history or knowledge of the issues.
At times we are drawn in by one of our Juice family writers simply by mentioning our name in their posts when we have sat on the sidelines. Sorry, but I will only take the bait if I feel that I can add to the debate.

So you would have us believe, as the healthcare debate has been raging on for months now, by all accounts one of the most divisive and potentially most consequetial pieces of legislation to emerge from Congress in many, many years, that you, who we assume fancies himself a follower of politics and the issues of the day, have not already “peeled the onion” when it comes to this issue and so you can’t render an opinion about the Franken clip?

No, Larry, I’m different that way. I will always check out you guys’ links & references even if I think I may not agree with them. It’s the only way to keep yourself honest and intellectually alive. Yep… we’re just different.

Thought you might like to know that Senator Al Franken in addition to being a successful comedian, is like you, a Political Science Major except Al got his degree from Harvard, he also served as a Fellow at Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government, has written 5 New York Times best-sellers, been a talk radio host, started a political action group ( Midwest Values PAC), has been a volunteer with the USO for over 10 years, he also has been married to the same woman for over 32 years (Frannie), with whom he has 2 children, a daughter who graduated from Harvard and a son who graduated from Princeton. Hmmmmm, he sounds like a VERY SUCCESSFUL and ACCOMPLISHED MAN.

No one ever asks you to “peel the onion” on subjects NOT related to the debate at hand (a red-herring), your stubborn refusal to look at or read your debate opponents source material just reflects poorly on your intellectual and journalistic abilities.
WHY do conservatives embrace WILLFUL IGNORANCE? They treat “knowledge” like a contagious disease, and it shows in their posts and comments.
