People like Crowley simply refuse to see the world in anything other than black and white. For them, everything MUST be reduced to simplistic arguments. With regard to Afghanistan, he presents us with the ridiculous false choice; surge and stay or "leave" Afghanistan. There's never, ever some sort of more nuanced option. Something like leaving a much smaller military presence at a single base who's sole mission is to prevent the reestablishment of a meaningful al Qaeda presence in Afghanistan.

My cat does not talk back, my Husband does, perhaps I married the wrong one!!! LOL

I expect that we are not pulling out of Afganistan for a long time. The 1st group of troops that were ordered to Afganistan when Obama took over are just now finishing deployment. They have to build places to house the troops and ship all the equiptment by air, which means only about 2,000 additional troops per week can be added for a long term deployment. You could air drop additional troops for a specific operation, but there would be nowhere to house them or resupply them.

The additional 34,000 will take up 4 to 6 months to deploy, best to make sure that you have a plan what to do with them. If it takes you generals a month or 2 to develope a plan that as president you are happy with then that is better than just tossing them in there and hoping for the best. We seen 2+ years of that in Iraq, before someone got a clue, removed Rummey and replaced him with Gates.To try to get us out the the mess there we should not have been in to start with.

The article was dead on serious. The extraneous comments you brought into it, that was the humor. Answered in kind.

Vern, Vern, Vern... time for school.

I don't oppose Gays being married. I DO oppose hypocrites who can't stand the thought of ANYONE ELSE being entitled to their version of marriage. I oppose those hypocrites who behave as if they are thoughtful or compassionate who are selective about their compassion because its popular with their crowd. Who am I or you to say that what ANYONE wants is wrong? Or that marriage is about sex. So the old lady who is so lonely that she marries her cat, the only thing that gives her affection, and its bestiality? And about sex? So then gay marriage is only about anal intercourse. What a narrow minded and bigoted attiude.

Where do you read that I'm keen on Bush/Cheney? I would not have to stoop far to say I agree with your assessment of them internationally. And THAT is the point. As incompetent as they were, look how far behind Obama lags.

I think it would be reprehensible to leave Afghanistan now. All you would do is turn them into an enemy later on. We leave. The Taliban come back. We get bombed somewhere. Now we're sending drone missiles into Afghanistan. Sort of like watching a neighbors house burn and pelting it with rocks when embers float onto your roof. A pathetic response.

I assume you mean my non-stop attacks on Obama. No, on the Left. On the totalitarianism of Progressivism. Emotion over justice. On the goosestepping Cultural Gestapo, yes. On the heavy breathers who call names and emote themselves as enlightened. Yes. Always.

Terry claims to be a Libertarian, but let's see:

He can't stand the idea of gays being allowed to marry;

He can't contain his keen jonesing for Bush and Cheney or his lust for war;

His nonstop attacks on Obama come right from the Cheney/Rush/Fox playbook.

LINO, anyone?

"The military’s Special Operations Command asserts that the consequences of not sending American troops in 2001 to block Mr. bin Laden’s escape into Pakistan are still being felt."
So this is what quick, but not smart decisions get you.
