This is an excellent example of a portmanteau (pronounced /pɔrtmænˈtoʊ/)which is when a word is used broadly to mean a blend of two (or more) words and their meanings into one.
Lewis Carroll’s is famous for his examples of portmanteau in “Jabberwacky” and “Through the Looking Glass”.
‘Slithy’ means ‘lithe and slimy’
‘Mimsy’ is ‘flimsy and miserable’
‘Gyre’ is ‘to go round and round like a gyroscope’
