There is so much disinformation out there, it is a shame that people have to wade thru so much trash to get to the truth.

Here is a website specifically to debunk all the smears and dishonesty:

I also had a lot of cat scans and the treatments involved nothing but radiation. I hate to think what would have happened if Larry were in charge of deciding on my tests. I wonder what food Larry will let me eat after the revolution? I'm not as smart as he his so I can't make my own choices.

Thanks Terry, you are making some excellent points. And comparing Canadian life expectancy is a false trap. Race and ethnicity play into life expectancy. The difference between the U.S. and Canada is only two years. Yet Canada has only 2.5% of its population black and 1% hispanic while we have 13.4% black and 15% hispanic. We have more accidents, homocides, etc. Not related to health care.

On a personal note, I went through a successful run of radiation treatments for tonsil cancer more than five years ago, and for a while participated in a mouth cancer forum in the internet that was based in England. It was embarrassing sometimes how much better the care was for us Americans than for the Brits. The Brits were always trading notes about long waits and poor care and which forms to fill out to go on the dole. The Americans generally talked about getting back to work.

If we all end up on Government HMO Permanente here we will really be sorry. There's no free lunch. Government doesn't make anything cheaper. It just shifts cost and adds a lot of bureaucracy.

Yes, eat more McDonalds. Have several bypasses to make it to 65. Sure sounds like a great way to save money.

Add a stroke or two and you really add you some costs. Seems to me you would go broke faster like that. How does that save money?

Perhaps, an extra fee could be added to the fines for hiring undocumented employees to help fund the uninsured.

Radiation kills and with all those scans it seems to be doing the job. The US spends more than double per capita on health care than Canada and as result we're ranked 47th in longevity as compared to 8th for Canada.
Those 40 million uninsured are all reached by McDonalds so the insurance companies should be able to if they really knew how to compete; instead the obesity caused by McDonalds will save Medicare as those folks won't make to age 65.
