When i came to this country i was 18 years old, i came with $80, no job and no mean’s of support. i sat in the Airport in LAX and found a little paper called the pennysaver. I call around and to make a long story short i ended up getting a job as a nanny, with a family that were nice enough, but were cold and distant.
I was in a county that did not understand my humor, accent, and culture. I missed my family so much. I was on my own for a year and cried every night because i wanted to go home, but i could not, because i knew as a catholic, i would never get a job and i had no chance of going to college.
i belonged here, because I always knew even as a kid that i did not want to be a second class citizen who was not able to go down a street without the fear that i was in the wrong religous area. I wanted to be free. In Ireland I lost some of my friends amid religous violence, and watched as other’s became alcoholics and drift into a life of misery and no hope.

I have been beaten up in this country due to having to live with less than nice people, gotten so sick that i lay in a bed for a week without food and have been homeless.
I could not stand being a nanny for spoiled rotten kids so i found out about an Irish bar in costa mesa and called to see if they could give me a job, i was 20 years old and the owner of the bar gave me a job washing dishes in the back of the pub. i met my best friend at the pub who sat with me for month’s going over basic math. I wanted to be a nurse. I was one of 75 out of 150 applicants to get into nursing school. I worked at night and went to school in the day, I often took so many buses that it seamed like friggin day,s to get to my job. i got to know the people on the bus as good friend’s many were hispanic.
I was a CNA for a year and got the great job of washing loads of bums,of all colors, but loved it! NO REALLY I DID!
i met my husband at 22, he is from Ireland we bought are own home at 27 with money that we saved and have been fixing the bloody thing up ever since, my friend cried the day i moved in, it was so bad. The rats would comeup to us for food “no kidding”,
I could not go home for a long time, my husband and i saved very hard so that we could marry in Ireland and when we finally had a date my mum died two months before the wedding.

The educational system in the country is bad. More so in Santa Ana due to bad management.

The difference and reason for Santa Ana’s below average testing is due to many factors such as:

- A bad school board that lacks thinking out the box in order to adapt to the unique problems with poor neighborhoods.

- Social factors associated with poverty.

Maybe some students, parents and teachers are lazy like you.
