Fred Phelps: Fag Hater or just a Con Artist?

Infamous Xtian Taliban hate mongers, Fred Phelps and his Westboro Baptist Church, flew out from Kansas and will be protesting at Corona del Mar High School starting tonight.  The target of the protest is the CdM’s Drama class production of the Broadway hit musical, Rent.  The play features some characters who are gay.  Fred Phelps says he believes that “God hates Fags”  and promotes that hate prominently on his church website.  You may have seen the Phelps’ shtick before.  They have celebrated the deaths of American soldiers and have partied with hatred at sad events around the world.  England has recently banned the whole church from entering their country because of the hateful chaos they inspire.   Some have branded them evil.  Some have wanted to hurt them.

But there is growing suspicion that Phelps and his church membership (made up mostly of only his own family members who are attorneys) is actually operating a scam.  Could it be true that this hate group doesn’t really believe what their signs say, and in fact, try to get counter protesters upset enough to allow Phelps to sue local authorities when things get out of hand?

It’s a business. They travel the country, set up websites telling you exactly when they’ll be there, and using the most inflammatory statements all over the place, just to get someone to violate their rights for profit. Then they sue the military, the police force that was to protect them, and everyone that is around them for money. This is a sham, and it is a trap to get people sued. Every member of his family is an attorney. Phelps does not break the law. What he does is try to make you break the law by trying to punch your sensibilities about everything you hold dear, and then sue you and everyone municipality around him to the max.   More….

Hmmmm.  Imagine that.  A Gypsy band of con artist attorneys roaming around and living off lawsuits instigated by their hateful messages that spark violence in others? Keep that in mind if you plan on attending any of the counter protests.   Be sure to bring your camera to record the action.  The Orange County Equality Coalition will be there to combat hate speech and to support the school’s production of Rent !

Please come out on Friday, April 24, and help take a stand against intolerance and in support of the CDM students who, gay, lesbian and straight, are also taking a stand for what is right.
