“U.S. Atty. Gen. Eric H. Holder Jr. said Wednesday that the Justice Department has no plans to prosecute pot dispensaries that are operating legally under state laws in California and a dozen other states — a development that medical marijuana advocates and civil libertarians hailed as a sweeping change in federal drug policy,”according to the L.A. Times.

The Obama administration is screwing up left and right on our economy, but at least they got this one right.  This was one of the stupider Bush policies and it deserved to be reversed.

I have no idea if marijuana has medicinal properties, but if desperately ill people think it does, than why not let them use it?

This is yet another issue that found Republicans at odds with the majority of Americans.  Here in California we voted for Prop. 215 years ago, which allowed for use of medical marijuana.  In a 2004 Field Poll, over 70% of respondents, from all political parties, supported the implementation of Prop. 215.  Yet, because of Bush, it could not be implemented – until now.

Kudos to Obama and to his Attorney General, Eric Holder, for doing the right thing with regard to medical marijuana.
