You do realize that California has the highest sales taxes, gas taxes, and income taxes already, and government spending and budgets of the state have grown 40% in just a few years? All the Californian politicians need to stop suckling at the breast of the taxpayers and start controlling their spending just like we have to. Raising taxes in a recession will just prolong the recession.

Yes, they are hypocrites. Their mantra is: under no circumstances whatsoever raise taxes. We want decent roads, decent infrastructure, police and firefighters, world-class schools and universities, but we don't care how to pay for them, just don't raise taxes...
They want to square the circle.
They want to eat the cake and have it, too.
And they still haven't understood that this is just not possible.
And meanwhile, their actions have resulted in the state budget crisis.

These politicians would not be taking this position if their supporters, fine upstanding citizens, were not demanding that they don't do anything to raise taxes. So these lemmings will allow the infrastructure to crumble so they can get reelected by these misguided anti-tax fools.

Remember when they wanted to deregulate the energy companies? Well, if you stood in the way of that you stood in the way of them saving money. Then when the hucksters gamed the system and started costing everyone money they blamed - no not deregulation - they blamed the government! They took no responsibility for the mess they created and then recalled the sitting governor because of their mess.

This is the same thing only larger, much much larger. Too bad we can't sell our houses and move somewhere else. Oh, I think we can thank them for that too.

I keep this in mind the next time Larry talks about Sacramento politicians.
The Republicans are like the Big 3 executives: driving with a taxi to the soup kitchen.
And like the Big 3, they need to learn that the people don't take this BS anymore.
