AND Kim Oanh Nguyen-Lam (whose name is a blast to repeat once you learn it) is a rare PROGRESSIVE DEM Viet! Only one reactionary Viet won, you could have said, and we are very proud of how well Ken did against "The Oil Spill Known As Van Thai Tran."

Matt/Jubal,

I suspect that Paul Lucas had more money in his campaign than Ken Arnold did. The Democrats no doubt are kicking themselves today. They could have taken out Tran. They blew it. This seat will go Democrat in two years - in fact I hope Mark Rosen runs for it. But Katrina Foley could easily win it as well.

What are you going to do when the O.C. goes blue Matt? Will you change your blog name back to "OC Blog?" What does it feel like to see so many GOP losses all over this nation? This must be a depressing time for you and your red-faced amigos. Oh well, at least you can celebrate the hate-fest that was Prop. 8.

SMS:

I didn't miss a thing. The margin isn't any narrower because Van's opponent was underfunded. Math is math.

It's fair to say Arnold did better than expected considering Van's advantages in incumbency and fundraising. But winning by seven points is not "barely winning." Typically, Art is compelled to stretch the truth, when the facts will suffice.

Matt -

Maybe you missed the part where Art says, 'an unknown, underfunded Democratic opponent.' Does that sound like an accurate description of Barack Obama to you? Besides, you're conveniently ignoring the electoral college. That was a landslide.

These are direct races where incumbents usually win 2-1, so Arnold is actually doing quite well against the Tran Daddy. You should report things more truthfully.

All of them lost on Nov. 4, except Assemblyman Van Tran, who barely defeated an unknown, underfunded Democratic opponent, Ken Arnold

LOL!!

Van's margin in his Assembly seat was the same as Obama's in the presidential race. So are you saying Obama "barely won"?
