Dr. Art Lomeli had a very well-attended fundraiser at his home in Orange this evening. With the help of Rancho Santiago Community College District (RSCCD) Trustee Al Amezcua, Lomeli raised over $5,000!  Lomeli is running for Area 3 of the RSCCD.

Amongst the attendees were Valerie Amezcua, who is running for the Santa Ana Unified School District’s Board of Education; Santa Ana Councilwoman Michele Martinez, who is running for Mayor of Santa Ana; Eddie Hernandez; the Chancellor of the RSCCD; and former Santa Ana Councilman John Acosta.

Someone was nice enough to take my picture too!  Other community leaders in attendance included Amin David, of Los Amigos; Albert Castillo of Barrios Unidos; Santa Ana businesswoman Teresa Saldivar; Liberal OC blogger Bill Spaulding; former OJ blogger Claudio Gallegos; Yvette Aguilar; and Santa Ana Council candidate Ana Rebecca Valencia-Verdin and her dad.

The food was fantastic.  It was prepared by Dr. Lomeli’s wife, Raquel, and her family.  Dinner included arroz, frijoles enteros, barbacoa and a variety of desserts, including “ponche” – a festive hot Mexican drink that includes fruit and sugar cane.

Kudos to Dr. Lomeli on a very successful fundraiser.  You can find out more about his campaign at this link.  He is endorsed by State Senator Lou Correa, Al Amezcua; Michele Martinez; and other community leaders.  Lomeli is a member of the Santa Ana EPIC/Gang Commission and he is a board member of the Greater Santa Ana Business Alliance, which used to be called the Santa Ana Chamber of Commerce.  Those desgraciados did not endorse him, but they should have.
