Even when GOP blogger Jon Fleischman tries to be nice to Democrats, he misfires. Fleischman wrote a recent post regarding State Senator Lou Correa, in which he talked up his supposed friendship with Correa, who apparently promised not to vote to raise our taxes. So far Correa is holding firm, even though surely his Senate President, Don Perata, is making life hard for him.
That’s all well and good, but check out this excerpt from Fleischman’s article:
You can tell that Correa has a lot of cache in Orange County, because the table-talk amongst Republicans down here is that Correa won’t go up on any bill that includes the taxes. But I can tell you that there is a resolve here to “take care of business” if he does — meaning the recruiting and funding of a strong anti-tax candidate against Correa in his next run.
Are you kidding me? Who in the world is the OC GOP going to recruit to take out Correa? Lynn Daucher gave it a good try – but she got close only because of support from the Trannies. I cannot see her trying again in two years. If anything there will be even less Republicans in Correa’s district two years hence.
The real question is why did the OC GOP give a free pass to Assemblyman Jose Solorio this year? They are doing almost nothing to help the GOP candidate against Solorio, Cam Mangels. And why hasn’t the OC GOP already endorsed Republican candidate for Mayor of Santa Ana George Collins? What gives? Will they support Collins or will they cower in fear of Santa Ana Mayor Miguel Pulido, who is a Democrat?

That’s not for me to say. That is up to Correa. My personal position is that when we cannot meet government budget obligations we ought to cut, cut, cut.
But Correa is in a bit of a fix here because he made a promise – and things have gotten worse since he did so. You could certainly argue that the Bush Depression has changed circumstances since he made his promise.

The problem that you have is that Correa was smart enough, as a Democratic, and as was Roger Niello in the Reep Caucus, not to be swayed by the Reep criminal elements composed of Ralph Reed, Jack Abramoff, and Grover Norquist (educate yourself by watching Capital Crimes on PBS which goes into further detail on DeLay and the gang of three).
The Norquist Pledge has come back to haunt the Reep Caucus and Niello, and the Caucus leadership knows it as it has been a subject of great discussion within the Caucus (yes I do know). The Dems are hanging the Norquist pledge around the necks of Caucus members and the consensus is that they realize now the stupidity of this move during this session.
The question is how to get out from under it before the elections this fall. Unfortunately, the budget situation will force this issue and Reeps will end up paying the price come this fall.
Republicans like you, Turney, DeLuz, and others (yes I have been invited to the prayer sessions but I am proudly an American that believes that there should not be a convergence of religion and politics) are on your last legs.
Come the new session, religious fanatics like yourself and the Capital Resource Institute here in town will realize that we centrists in the Republican Party will continue to support the Governor in his efforts to push his agenda forward and to marginalize the fundamentalist religious element (I refer to you folks as the Talibani Republicans) and return the party to its former glory.
Keep the religious fervor, Jubal, and continue to play the ever present role of foil to us Centrists.
BTW, you should be having your 25th anniversary reunion of your 1983 Servite graduation. I am sure that we could drum up some protesters (are you listening Vern) to demonstrate outside the venue regarding your presence.
