No way Solorio anyone in their right mind will take back this kimchi. She's toast. She's not very bright and didn't do much for him in the first place. When she worked for DPOC and Umberg she was suppose to do Viet outreach but was too busy watching korean dramas and point fingers at other people. She failed then and who is she blaming now? Birds of a feather flock together...

She will not be welcomed back. She asked for a leave of absence and Solorio said no. He gave her an ultimatum, him or Hoa, she chose Hoa.

I wonder if she will be welcomed back into the office of Solorio after we see the end of Hoa Van Tran's campaign on June 4th?

And if so why?

SMS asks how much Vietnamese outreach did Dunn "delegate" to Paul.
That would be NONE. Paul never worked in any capacity - campaign or legislative for Senator Dunn, despite repeated claims to the contrary.
How dumb would Joe have to be to use Paul Lucas as an emissary to the Vietnamese community? Dunn is much smarter than that!

Sarah,

Paul had nothing to do with Dunn's Vietnamese outreach. He had a Vietnamese deputy named Chuyen who handled that and he did a great job. The one who stumbled when it came to Vietnamese outreach was Tom Umberg. Paul had no real connections to that community until he hooked up with Dina, Van and "The Dark Lord." He even took part in protests at the Viet Weekly(the ones that turned violent), which was the first sign of his defection. I should have seen it coming but my friendship with him blinded me to the truth.

As for the most recent comment, tell me how quitting working for the office of a rising Democratic star like Solorio to work on a train wreck of a campaign infested with gang bangers is a wise political decision. Even if his campaign was not going down the tubes it would not have been the wisest move. She was hooked up with a teriffic job, she could have gone places with the position she had in Solorio's office. I was very much rooting for her. It actually hurts me to see her squander this opportunity she was given.

How many Viet's will register and vote in the Democratic party?

Not many.

The Vietnamese have an extremely long memory and have not forgotten how the Democratic party threw them under a bus.

This isn't a letter gaffe (i.e. Lucas/Van Tran). These guys are known gang affiliates accused of attempted murder as well as vandalism who have posed in front of a wall of 'Homie' displays flashing gang signs. They don't have to be found guilty of murder since we already know they, at the very least, are guilty of being unprofessional and violent and as such don't belong on <i>any</i> campaign.

What's their stake in government? Do they want cholo affirmative action, preferential police treatment, or easier access to corruptible officials? Seriously, <i>why were these guys even involved?</i>

You know, this is starting to remind me of the Chief Walters debate. Do we really want to allow another compromised individual to ascend to a position of authority and power?

Kim Chi Nguyen is a bright articulate Dem who does have a bright future. The guilt by association allegations prove little beyond the fact that wild allegations continue to distract OC Dems from the real work of the election cycle. Not that the allegations against the Hoa staffers are not serious if proven true, they certainly are and will sink his candidacy if proven true. Not that the internal positioning within the DPOC is not troubling, it is but it will be worked out in true Dem fashion with the participants being held accountable for their actions not for the wild accusations being leveled against them. The Democratic Party needs to be open but vigilant to ensure that the process is open to all and without coersion and intimidation from operatives within the party structure. Hang in there Dems, dont let the distractions become our main focus. I support Kim Chi in that sentiment. The assimilation of our Viet brothers and sisters as evidenced by their involvement in the political process is wonderful to behold. I for one thank all of you for your efforts and believe that even our conflicts will produce positive results that will make OC an even better place to live.

Oh, see, because the way he talks, it's like he's Caucasian, Vietnamese <i>and</i> Mexican ('<i>grew up in a barrio</i>' was the quote I believe). I'm sorry for the misinformation, but it's not coming from me, it came from him. Whoops!

Paul did not know any Viets before moving to Garden Grove in '07. And he's no Republican either although I guess that's a matter of controversy in some circles now...

Claudio,

To be fair though, how much of that outreach did he do personally and how much did he delegate to Paul Lucas? I didn't live here when Dunn was a Senator, but I know them both personally and wonder what their history was before I arrived on the scene. Maybe you could help me with the back story on that?

I know Paul has a lot of connections to the Viet community (of course he does, he's really a Republican), so Dunn would have been crazy not to utilitze that.
