Anonyms #6, plenty of distinctions between Debbie and Ron should Ron win in June - Ron mentions the main ones: Debbie's responsible plan to end the war in Iraq, her expertise on energy and environmental issues, and her support for comprehensive healthcare reform. Would love to have that debate between her and the sensible StJohn rather than buffoon Dana who probably won't even debate her.

Still, wouldn't it be beautiful to see Ron either beat Dana June 3 or at least come close? Think of the shock waves that would send through the OC GOP - that no longer will the party faithful stand for demagoguery and incompetence, that they expect more from their Republican representatives. I would like to see that!

No, no, no, Debbie Cook is going to unseat Rohrabacher. Don't make her run against a viable candidate like St. John. That would be like choosing between two good candidates. Then we would have to make up our minds based on the candidates' stand on the issues not on some litmus test like party affiliation. Oh Noooooo!

This is probably one of the most honest and straightforward interviews I have read in ages. I'm not really political, but Ron makes a lot of sense. I've been asking the same questions for years. Best to you Ron and I hope you win the election.

Vern - No, I am not Mr. "ILLEGAL, ILLEGAL, ILLEGAL."

I appreciate your response and that of Ron St. John.

Well, "Jack Black," it might be fair to say that Dana has no SERIOUS position on immigration, or anything else. A serious position would entail a realistic plan to get from where we are to a place Dana thinks we should be. But he prefers to throw out inhumane non-starters like refusing emergency room care to the undocumented... measures which have no chance of passing, but allow him to bellow, posture, and excite his nativist base.

Funny, I think this is the first comment I've received defending Dana, after many posts and articles I've written here and elsewhere attacking him for various things. Are you sure you know much about Dana, "Jack Black?" Or are you the same anonymous guy who always types "ILLEGAL, ILLEGAL, ILLEGAL" whenever one of us OJ bloggers writers about immigration?

Wow, that is news. I was misled by the William Kristol article singling him out on this issue, and the Rohrabacher Wikipedia page, and by the twenty years in Congress when he has never introduced or supported any pro-legal-immigration legislation.

One way that Congressman Rohrabacher could be more forthright about his strong support for legal immigration would be the next time agriculture lobbies are complaining about crops lost to labor shortages he could say "Lets establish increased work visas so we can let the new legal immigrants pick the fruits. I am strongly PRO legal immigration." When you say "Let the prisoners pick the fruits, we don't need millions of foreigners" it sort of fails to give the full picture of how strongly you are PRO legal immigration.

If Congressman Rohrabacher sponsors or co-sponsors one single bill to increase legal immigration, I'll admit I'm wrong and promise not to run against him again in 2010. I'll even settle for a simple "yes" vote for lifting the cap on H-1B (professional workers) visas. Anyone who is strongly PRO legal immigration should be willing to take a leadership role on that issue.

".... this district is being represented by someone who’s really one of the country’s most outspoken anti-immigration voices."

That is just pure crap.

Dana Rohrabacher is NOT anti-immigration.

He IS anti-illegal immigration.

He is strongly PRO legal immigration.

Stop the misrepresentation of Dana's immigration position !!
