We now know how we lost on Measure D, which passed about a week ago. There are some who don’t want this information released. However, I believe that the need to inform the public outweighs the need to be strategic.
Santa Ana Council Member Vince Sarmiento has tapped into the Vietnamese community on Santa Ana’s west side. He used a commissioner he appointed, who is Vietnamese, to gain a foothold. I suspect that our old nemesis Tim Whitacre is also involved as he is an ally of Assemblyman Van Tran, who heads up the “Trannies” – an organization that has members all over the U.S. Tran rides herd over them, and he tells their politicians which campaign advisers to hire, and even which printing firms to use.
Sarmiento is also allied with Garden Grove Councilman Steve Jones, who is also a “Trannie.” (That is how he got appointed to the Garden Grove City Council).
What they did in the Measure D campaign was give cards to the Vietnamese voters in Santa Ana, who number over 2,000. The cards said on them “McCain – Yes, D – Yes,” This has been verified by a poll worker. The voters showed up to vote with the cards in hand.
This weekend Sarmiento and Councilwoman Claudia Alvarez rode in a parade in Westminster. They barely show up for Santa Ana events, but they showed up for this parade. You figure it out.
The poll worker we heard from was upset because most of the voters he saw with the cards barely spoke any English. But they voted. That was enough for D to win. And for the people of Santa Ana to lose.
Shame on Alvarez and Sarmiento for using the Vietnamese voters without even explaining what D was all about. By the way, where is the Code of Ethics they promised us in Measure D? They broke every ethical guideline you can imagine in the way they ran Measure D. It will be interesting to see what they come up with. I doubt this Code will stop them from being the unethical politicians that they are.
It was not the just Vietnamese people that had the cards telling the Lemmings how to vote(which I’m sure you know Art). Future Voters, PLEASE DO YOUR RESEARCH. DON’T VOTE IF YOU’RE GOING TO LET A CARD BE YOUR GUIDE. THINK THAN VOTE “YOUR MIND”
They so smart the other side…too bad we no have such smarty people helping us to stop the D…
Art,
Didn’t the “No on D” campaign pay to be on slate mailers? Don’t the slate mailers encourage voters to take the card with them to the polls? So what’s the difference.
This is just another one of your crazy conspiracy theories. Vince and Claudia have been attending a lot of events in the Vietnamese community over the last year.
Vince and Claudia are also Democrats and would not be involved in pushing the campaign of John McCain.
Lastly, Tim Whitacre had nothing to do with the “Yes on D” campaign. It looks like your paranoia is getting the best of you.
P.S.- Please collect the “No on D” signs that are still littering our community.
The poll worker we heard from was upset because most of the voters he saw with the cards barely spoke any English. But they voted.
If these were Hispanics we were talking about, Art wouldn’t have a problem with the “barely spoke English” part.
What a racist.
Get a clue!
Art’s girl, Janet Nguyen, reaps the benefit of this election because now Claudia Alvarez won’t be running against her for supervisor.
Oh no, somebody figured out how to mobilize Vietnamese voters. Let’s call the D.A. right away!
There might be ugly political reasons why these slate cards only had John McCain and Measure D on them, but a hat tip is in order to those who were able to get their voters out.
Sean
get a life-your constant complaining about the Juice and constant sucking on Tinajero’s breast undercut the substance of what you say. The reality of the situation is that Clownia recorded a message in support of measure D. She directly benefits from its passage. You need to familiarize yourself with the FPPC regs that control such behavior. While we know of the smell that eminates from Clownia “I havent met a developer that I didnt want to sleep with OR take money from” Alvarez, that bottom line is that she sold herself. Lets change her name to Clownia “the Pro” Alvarez. With Sarmiento, his intelligence quotient is much higher than Alvarez. The cards are what the cards are-and they exist-as does the behavior of these two. As it is said, payback is a B***h, or, so you can understand it, a Mill.
Art,
How about owning up to your failure? Talking never will be a substitute for hard work. Politics is about winning and you blew it. You were in charge of this thing and you failed. I suggest you change your strategy from talking to working.
I bet the yes on D consultants will be running some city council campaigns in Santa Ana next time around.
Anon 10:07AM, are you saying that Janet helped with the YES on Measure D efforts?
Anon # 10. Yes janet did work to help the YES on D campaign. She had two of her accolates in the campaign working to sabotage it. Art and some guy named Bill or Philip.
Remember the good old days when wealthy white men, property owners were the only ones allowed to vote. way way before my time.
Now it is very much like a bunch of Lemmings.
But I think it has always been like that.
Politics is about the strategy in obtaining voters.Genaraly it is done through debate.
Sadly in cases where debate would be fruitless, dirty tricks are placed in motion.
Gloating over winning an election through accessing a population that is completely unaware of the issues by whatever means and promises is nothing to be proud of.
It realy takes no talent to accomplish this other than an ability to access individuals capable of influencing groups of voters with some perceived sinister bating.
The yes on measure d supporters that take pride in the strategy of this method of getting voters and ridiculig the other side for not thinking of using this tactic to win the election is sickining and should be dealt with in future elections.
That beign said, no on measure d lost because no effort was made in informing nor using dirty tricks in the Hispanic and Vietnamese comunities by the no on measure d committee.
A valuable lesson was learned by a first time out and well intended group of stakeholders.
A battle was lost. There is nothing fatal about this. There will be other battles to win.
Art Lomeli – Since when are political aspects secured from DEBATE??? That has not been the case for more than 50 years or more. If it were so, candidates would not have to spend so much for airtime. You are living in the past.
come on, Art, whose next the african-americans? What a poor LOSSER! name calling and whining wont get you anywhere and you are proof!
#14,
Oh really!!. Omama and McCain are where they are based on their ability to debate and communicate.
Are they living in the past? You would have them run their compaigns on dirty tricks exclusively?
The public is tired of this. It seems, you are living in the past.
art lomeli.
