Hot on the heels of the addition of Aria Ghafari to our team, I am proud to announce the next newcomer to the Orange Juice blog squad. Chris Emami is a basketball coach at Esperanza High School.
Chris is also very involved in local politics. He ran for the Orange Unified School District’s Board of Education in 2006. He was the runner up in that election.
Emami is also currently on the board of the Orange Villa Park Republican Assembly (OVPRA), which is a chapter of the California Republican Assembly, a conservative grassroots GOP volunteer organization.
Here is Emami’s bio, from the Esperanza Basketball team’s website:
Chris graduated from Canyon High School in 2003, playing 2 years in the basketball program playing on the 2000-2001 team that went to the final four of the CIF Division IAAA Playoffs losing to the eventual National Champion Mater Dei Monarchs the furthest playoff trip in his schools history. This is his fifth year coaching and his third year at Esperanza. Chris had previous coaching stints at Lodi High School and Florin High School, both in the Sacramento area.
Chris is currently working hard to earn his degree in Political Science at California State University, Fullerton. Chris resides in Anaheim Hills and enjoys golf in his spare time.
In Chris’ two years with the Aztecs, he has gone 46-7 including two tournament championships. His teams have won two Sunset League Championship with a perfect 20-0 record.
He tries to put a focus on defense with every team that he coaches modeling his philosophy after that of Ben Howland at UCLA. He is very happy to be coaching at Esperanza even after facing the Aztecs numerous times while in high school.
I know many of Emami’s political friends, including Orange County Board of Education Trustee Dr. Ken Williams and Orange County Education Alliance Chairman Mark Bucher. Obviously Emami hails from the right side of the political spectrum and as such he will add editorial balance to our growing blog team.
Please join me in welcoming Chris to the Orange Juice!
Any Republican that has UCLA roots
is already on the suspects list!
Welcome aboard – “Ruin the Bruin”.
Travelor III, George Tirebiter IV
and the Doheny Library. Fight ON!
John McKay is now a Angel and
Coach Carroll is GOD!
I’ve seen this guy coach he is one of the worst coaches I have ever seen.
Poster 2,
Geez…he hasn’t even signed on yet and you’re already trashing Chris? At least wait until he has put up a post or two. Besides, Esperanza has a terrific program. I am sure Chris is a valued part of that program just as he will be a valued part of our blog team.
Now go take something to counteract your crankiness!
He better have thick skin to deal with the stanleys on this blog.
And IF he’s a lousy coach, he’s gonna have to deal with the heat of that too 😉
I hope Chris remembers that the Bruins’ colors are BLUE and gold.
You guys are too much. Give the guy a chance before you jump all over him geez lol. Good luck Chris. Im looking forward to reading your posts.

Anon coward # 2
How can he be the worst coach ever with a 46-7 record?
Welcome aboard Chris!
Can’t we ask about qualifications? Did he graduate from college? Is he a teacher or a coach? The standards are set pretty low on this blog, given its geographical base, but this is a bit ludicrous. This blog seems to be drifting right and dooooowwwn.
Poster #5, red is one of Esperanza’s colors!
Chris. Welcome to the Juice.
If you have some spare time we can use some coaching help in Mission Viejo after our Diablo’s self destructed in Vista last week.
